The Best Work You May Never See: CarrefourSA, TBWA\Istanbul Look To Protect Small-Scale Coastal Fishing

Ghost nets abandoned under the sea are threatening coastal fishing, with fishing towns like Ocaklar in Turkey losing their economic resources and turning into ghost towns.

In response, Turkey supermarket chain CarrefourSA has launched an impactful project “Ghost Town” in Ocaklar Town, located in Balıkesir Erdek. With the message “If fishing dies, Ocaklar dies!”, the “Ghost Town” project aims to protect coastal settlements that rely on small-scale coastal fishing for their livelihood and raise awareness about the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

Created by TBWA\Istanbul, the striking installation highlights how ghost nets–abandoned fishing nets that sink to the seabed–prevent fish from reproducing and can turn a once-thriving fishing town into a ghost town. Ocaklar Town was covered with ghost nets collected from the sea by CarrefourSA, visually transforming it into a ghost town overnight–serving as a stark warning about the potential future. The ghost town created with ghost nets symbolizes what we may face if no action is taken.

As part of the project, CarrefourSA is providing training sessions for small-scale coastal fishers in Ocaklar Town–aiming to make these digitally accessible nationwide. By collaborating with Turkey’s first integrated mussel facility in Ocaklar Town, the brand is also providing a livelihood for dozens of families by increasing women’s employment in the region. Currently, all employees at the mussel facility, including the facility manager, are women.

This hero film puts the campaign front and center, including the making of Ghost Town. The film was directed by Yiğit Karagöz via Organic Film. The “Ghost Town” project aims to protect coastal settlements that rely on small-scale coastal fishing for their livelihood and raise awareness about the sustainability of marine ecosystems.

Top Spot of the Week: VCCP, Director Stefanie Soho Take Us “Under The Bed” For Disney+

    Thursday, May 14, 2026

Disney+ has unveiled the next chapter in its creative platform, “A Lifetime of Great Stories,” which continues to celebrate world-class storytelling.

Created by creative agency of record, VCCP, the campaign has at its heart this cinematic film, “Under The Bed,” which was directed by Stefanie Soho via production house SMUGGLER, in collaboration with VCCP’s content creation studio Girl&Bear. The film tells the story of a little boy who first discovers his love for great stories as a child, spotlighting Disney+ as a constant throughout his life as he grows up. We see him watching Disney and Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” as a child to being a teen viewing the “Sixth Sense” while camping, enjoying “The Walking Dead” in his 20s, and finally, returning to Disney+ as an adult to watch FX’s “Alien: Earth,” having had children of his own. Shot on 35mm film to set an authentic, cinematic feel, the film aims to evoke a mix of humor and warmth. The film captures the timeless feeling of Disney storytelling, elevated by a bespoke version of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” reimagined to complement the narrative and emotional journey on screen.

Emma Quartly, VP of marketing, Disney+ EMEA, said: “This next chapter of ‘A Lifetime of Great Stories’ builds on what we’ve already started, keeps storytelling at the heart of Disney+, and reflects how it’s home to both stories for families and for adults. It’s something we’ve developed closely with our creative agency, VCCP, and with our wider team. At its heart, the campaign is about the enduring nature of a great story, the way it can shape us, and the evolution of the stories we encounter at different stages of our lives. With ‘Under The Bed’, director Stefanie Soho brings... Read More
