Top Spot of the Week: BBH Dublin, Director Amara Abbas Tackle Pineapple-on-Pizza Debate For Tesco Ireland

BBH Dublin has unveiled its “Can’t Argue With That” campaign for Tesco Ireland, putting a witty spin on the age-old question of value.

The campaign brings new life to the Tesco Value platform, shifting away from just price-match mechanics and embracing the emotional satisfaction of a shop well done. At the heart of the creative is a simple but powerful insight: Cheap isn’t the same as value for money.

The campaign leads with this humorous, high-energy 60-second TV spot that escalates the pineapple-on-pizza debate to absurd national proportions. The back and forth about the pineapple atop pizzas is inescapable–until a couple shopping at Tesco hears a market employee announce over the public address system that high-quality pineapple is value priced. The husband takes a pineapple from his wife and plops it into their shopping basket, explaining, “Can’t argue with that.”

Amara Abbas directed this opening spot via production house Iconoclast.

Of the overall campaign, BBH Dublin creative director Luke Till explained, “Tesco wanted to reassert their value credentials in a way that feels true to Irish shoppers. So we tapped into something uniquely Irish: their love of a good debate. Whether it’s pineapple on pizza, the ‘correct’ shade of tea, or the eternal tomato-fruit-or-veg question, the spots mirror those classic conversations that divide the nation. But there’s one thing we can all agree on: money spent at Tesco is money well spent.”

TDA Boulder, Director Michael Downing Tackle Banking Clichés In “No Nonsense” Campaign For First Interstate

    Thursday, August 27, 2026

Indie ad agency TDA Boulder has unveiled “No Nonsense Banking,” its debut campaign for new client First Interstate Bank. The rolling launch runs through the end of the year, and spans across 10 states.

The batch of spots includes this one titled “Every Step,” epitomizing a call to end the nonsense. “Every Step” opens on a couple experiencing life’s biggest moments (marriage proposal, first child, a kid learning to drive, and packing up for college). Each meaningful moment, though, has one odd addition: their banker is actually really there, experiencing those moments with them. The unexpected inclusion calls out the cliché that banks love to be with you every step of the way, even in life’s most intimate moments. The spot lands on the twist: First Interstate isn’t promising to be there for every step; just the ones that matter, with a straight answer and a real person on the other end.

Michael Downing directed via The Sweetshop x Chirp Films.
