“Pioneers,” a series of three cinematic short documentary films. Each film highlights a professional sports figure and debuts today on ESPN.go.com with "The Mark Gonzalez Ride."
    NEW YORK -- (SPW) --
Process, a NYC-based film and branded content production company, recently collaborated with Adidas and ESPN Films to create “Pioneers,” a series of three cinematic short documentary films. Each film highlights a professional sports figure and debuts today on ESPN.go.com with The Mark Gonzales Ride, here, directed by Marah Strauch (Sunshine Superman). Gonzo will also air on SportsCenter on Friday, December 18th in the 6-7PM EST segment.

Two additional films due out later this week include (we will follow-up with links once each is live):

►  Wednesday, December 16th: The Fosbury Flop directed by Clubhouse (Ballplayer: Pelotero; Schooled: The Price of College Sports)

►  Thursday, December 17th: Royal in Hollis directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (American Splendor; The Nanny Diaries)

The creative teams set out to make the films in the spirit of ESPN Films’ acclaimed 30 for 30 series while also focusing on Adidas’ promotion of extraordinary individuals. The films were designed to be highly cinematic, with minimal to no product shots, and to each feel different and unique. It was important to Process, who developed the films’ creative approaches, that the filmmaking styles of each piece reflect the subjects and their identities.

Royal in Hollis tells the story of former NBA point guard Royal Ivey from his upbringing in Queens, to being the 37th pick of the 2004 draft, to being NBA journeyman, to now being a community leader. The Fosbury Flop is a stylized, whimsical account of gold medal-winning highjumper named Dick Fosbury as he went from a track & field nobody to redefining the modern highjump. Lastly, The Mark Gonzales Ride celebrates skateboarding pioneer Mark Gonzales, his personality, his motivation, and the history that became his legend.

“While each of the films is distinctive, they all deal with original thinkers, all people who charted unique paths and live outside conventions and rules,” says Tim Perell, CEO of Process.

A 30 Minute Compilation of all three shows will air on ESPN, Sunday, December 20th, at 6pm EST and ESPN2, Saturday, December 26th, at 2pm EST. Let me know any questions you may have and we look forward to hearing from you.

Boris FX Mocha Pro Adds Powerful New AI Roto, Matte, and 3D Solve Refinement Tools

    Thursday, December 11, 2025
    Boris FX Mocha Pro 2026

Mocha Pro, the Emmy® and Academy Award®-winning planar tracking and masking plugin from Boris FX, announces its 2026 release. The latest update helps VFX artists quickly refine tracking and rotoscoping results with a new AI-assisted matte refine tool for 2D tracking, a 3D tracking refine solve tool, and a rebuilt Curve Editor to easily visualize and adjust problem areas. It also supports VFX Reference Platform 2025 standards to meet the demands of professional VFX pipelines. “Mocha Pro users told us they loved its new AI-powered masking and camera solver, but wanted to use them on more demanding shots. For our 2026 release, we have created a suite of refinement tools to help artists handle tricky tasks like hair roto or tracking through heavy motion blur,” says John-Paul Smith, CEO, Imagineer Systems. “As always, we added many quality-of-life improvements, including the new Curve Editor, which, for the first time, allows artists to visualise the effect of AdjustTrack interactively.” “We always look to make laborious tasks a bit easier in Mocha Pro, especially when refining problem areas. This release is focused on making those refinements a breeze,” adds Martin Brennand, Mocha Pro product manager. “Refine your mattes with Matte Refine ML, clean up your 3D solves with the Refine Solve tools, and refine all your data with the Curve Editor.” New AI Masking A new Matte Refine ML workflow further cements Mocha Pro’s dynamic AI masking toolset, which also includes Object Brush ML, Matte Assist ML, and Face ML. Matte Refine ML automatically refines matte edges to mask out traditionally time-consuming details, such as fine hair, soft blurs,... Read More
