AI Point Tracking Speeds Up Complex VFX Tracks In Mocha Pro

    Thursday, June 11, 2026
    Boris FX Mocha Pro 2026.5

Boris FX Mocha Pro, the renowned 2D/3D planar tracking and masking toolkit, launches its 2026.5 release. New precise AI-driven point tracking changes how VFX artists and compositors approach intricate organic mesh tracking and drifting-track cleanups. The robust update also delivers more detailed automated mattes, new export options to better support studio pipelines, and Windows ARM support on the Adobe plugin and standalone application. “With this release, Point Track ML’s AI tracking joins forces with Mocha’s award-winning planar and PowerMesh trackers. This combination lets artists handle the toughest organic shots while retaining the precise control they need to deliver their highest quality work,” says John-Paul Smith, CEO, Imagineer Systems. “Furthermore, by working closely with our partners at Adobe and Microsoft, we’ve brought Mocha to Windows on ARM with full native performance on the newest hardware.” Effortless Tracking Mocha Pro’s PowerMesh tracking, known for capturing subtle warping in surfaces such as skin and cloth, adds Point Track ML. The potent new tracking mode uses advanced AI to analyze tracks across a sequence, unlike traditional point or planar trackers, which rely on frame-based analysis. Its model, trained to ignore occlusions, lighting, and shadows, lets artists quickly tackle previously difficult tasks such as mesh tracking on creased clothing or where hands move over the tracked surface. Point Track ML also tracks surfaces that turn away from and back towards the camera, a behavior that was impossible even with the planar track. Three more tools round out the speedy workflow with a Refine Mode for... Read More
