Brings Unique Storytelling Expertise From Maybelline, PepsiCo, L’Oreal, Puma with Recognition from SXSW, Cannes and Tribeca Film Festival

    LOS ANGELES -- (SPW) --

Big Block, a creative content services company, today announced that award-winning filmmaker Dara Bratt has joined its roster of directors. Dara brings unique storytelling capabilities and experience working with brands such as Maybelline, PepsiCo, L’Oreal, Kiehl's, Puma, Essie and Kind as well as celebrities including Reese Witherspoon, Gigi Hadid, Christy Turlington, Adriana Lima and Kerry Washington. Bratt is drawn to stories that are authentic, with heart and soul, and looks forward to continuing to work with brands and companies that aren’t afraid to take risks.

“I was really intrigued by the scope of work Big Block covers; everything from thrilling ESPN commercials to developing original theatrical productions,” said Bratt. “They are very filmmaker friendly and prioritize excellence in storytelling. I believe that Big Block is destined to continue their growth, and it’s enticing to join them for the ride.”

Dara brings an unmistakable fervor to each project across all mediums, from brand spotlights to short narrative, documentary films and features. Dara’s films have screened at The Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW, Cannes Film Festival, Abu Dhabi International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, Short Short Film Festival Asia, and most recently on Topic.com.

“Dara represents another step in Big Block’s ongoing commitment to recruiting the most diverse and dynamic directors,” says Jennette MacLachlan, Live Action Executive Producer at Big Block. “I’m excited about introducing her unique perspective to brands, and putting some of her longer format projects into development as well.”

Dara often travels around the globe for projects, and loves juxtaposition — she incorporates sensorial close-ups against breathtaking wide-shots, or frenetic action contrasted with moments of stillness. She joins an impressive roster of directors at Big Block, who hail from diverse backgrounds and challenge the status quo. Most recently, Big Block added Cale Glendening to their director roster as well.

Bratt is the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Production grant, the Tribeca Film Institute Sloan Award, the documentary grant from the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts, and Sciences, and the FAP grant from the National Film Board of Canada. Born and raised in Montreal, she pursued her MFA from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and now lives in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter and pup.
