Boris FX Continuum 2025.5 with new AI Tools

The 2025.5 release delivers AI-driven masking, image restoration, creative effects, and compositing tools.

    MIAMI -- (SPW) --

Continuum, the original flagship plugin collection from Boris FX, accelerates its mission to create AI tools that benefit post-production professionals and content creators. The 2025.5 release gives artists access to fast masking, instant depth map creation, easy frame fixes, and more.

“This year marks the 30th anniversary of Continuum’s first product release. From its inception as the first plugin available to emerging NLEs to the present day, our team has continually developed innovative visual effects tools and effects used by video editors and VFX artists across every content genre,” states Boris Yamnitsky, President and Founder of Boris FX. “As AI technology plays a larger role in everyone’s lives, we’re excited to keep Continuum at the forefront with four new plugins that enhance creative workflows, slashing the time spent on everyday technical tasks.”

    AI Technology
Continuum 2025.5 adds two AI-driven masking and tracking tools. The new workflow transforms the traditionally time-consuming effects isolation process. It’s never been easier to isolate effects such as lights, glows, color grades, film stocks, and particles directly inside Continuum.

    • Object Brush ML offers one-click masking that automatically generates splines that can be seamlessly tracked across frames using Mocha.
    • Matte Assist ML generates a complete animated matte from one frame, delivering precise segmented masking.

“I’ve been using Continuum’s Matte Assist ML feature since its first beta. It is nothing less than magic! In the past, I’ve spent tedious time and effort creating a single mask, then tracking it through a shot,” remarks Harry B. Miller III, ACE (La Brea, The Predator, The Lafayette Escadrille).“Now, it’s a few mouse clicks, and then you watch the accurate automatic tracking with awe. Continuum is the best effects plugin I’ve ever used — and it constantly gets better and better.”

BCC+ Depth Map ML is a handy tool that allows users to quickly add elements like fog to the foreground only, fake rack focus, relight, correct color, and composite.

    • Depth Map ML automatically generates an animated image map based on the apparent distance of objects from the camera.
    • It features two machine-learning models — one tuned for performance, the other tuned for higher detail.

BCC+ Frame Fixer ML replaces missing or damaged frames in a source clip, regardless of the kind or level of damage to the frame. Set the bad frame and the number of frames; state-of-the-art technology does the rest.

“The BCC+ Frame Fixer ML is a perfect example of how cutting‑edge technology can streamline your workflow. Whether you’re dealing with dropped frames from tape digitization or film scratches, this effect seamlessly repairs brief disturbances by interpolating adjacent frames,” says Christian Feist, German video editor and trainer. “Even with interlaced footage, it works exceptionally well. Needless to say, the BCC+ Frame Fixer ML has earned a permanent spot on my shortlist.”

    Creative Effects
BCC+ ST Map is a time-saving tool allowing artists to warp footage intelligently. Artists can use ST Map metadata to drive advanced beauty work, texture wrapping, creative distortions, or warp rectilinear formats into seamless 360 video.

    • The tool processes ST Map images directly from a host timeline or imports ST Map images from a disc or LAN.
    • A unique Watch Folder remembers where an external ST Map was loaded and relinks it with an optional on-screen metadata display.

Continuum 2025.5 adds 8K support to Title Studio, its 3D titling and motion graphics toolset, over 100 new presets across seven effects categories, and quicker 4K media playback (2x speed improvements) in the FX Editor.

    Pricing & Availability
Continuum is available as a plugin collection with subscriptions, upgrade & support plans, and perpetual licenses. Subscriptions start at $325/year or $48/month. See pricing.

Host application support includes Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut Pro and Motion, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve and Fusion, and VEGAS Pro.

Customers on Continuum subscription or upgrade & support plans, or the Boris FX Suite subscription, receive the 2025.5 release as a complimentary update.
