In the 1980s, the HIV/AIDS pandemic ravaged Uganda. Millions of orphans were left in its wake—along with countless widows and elderly parents who were supported by those who died. Poverty, darkness, and hopelessness spread throughout the country. CORNERSTONE is the inspiring documentary film about the journey of Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, a humble immigrant living the American dream, who returned to Uganda to help his home village save a generation of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. His efforts ultimately transformed his village and helped empower the women who raised him. Award-winning Director Debi Lang and her team documented Kaguri’s colossal efforts that have changed the lives of thousands in Western Uganda.

World Premiere in Uganda December 1st - United States Premiere at The United Nations in New York City.

    DALLAS -- (SPW) --

CARING FOR THE WORLD FILMS (CFTWF) documentary, CORNERSTONE, directed and produced by Debi Lang, about  NYAKA AIDS ORPHANS PROJECT and 2015 Waislitz Global Citizen Award Winner, Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, will have its official North American debut at The United Nations in New York City, one week after its world premiere in Kampala, Uganda, December 1st in honor of World AIDS Day.

“It is a great honor to premiere CORNERSTONE in New York City and at the United Nations,” said Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, founder and executive director of NYAKA AIDS ORPHANS PROJECT.  “AIDS is a global issue and to bring this film to New York City to launch our journey of CORNERSTONE is an important step, to not only show the work we’ve done with orphans and their grannies in Western Uganda all affected by this pandemic, but also to show the power of media to affect change in the world.”

CORNERSTONE has been a major undertaking, years in the making from CARING FOR THE WORLD FILMS.  Director and producer Debi Lang says, “We are so grateful to our truly dedicated team in the making and promotion of our pro-bono documentary film, CORNERSTONE. We’re proud of this film and very excited about the premiere showing across the world starting with Uganda and New York’s United Nations. We are thankful for the opportunity to bring awareness to the exhaustive efforts of Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project."

The event will be an exclusive VIP affair to support CORNERSTONE’s beneficiaries, NYAKA AIDS ORPHANS PROJECT. This exceptional night of celebration and honor will include CNN Hero Jackson Kaguri, filmmaker Debi Lang and film composer, Howard Wulkan in attendance.  Special performances and guests will be included amongst the festivities of the reception. A Ugandan marketplace of crafts including handmade jewelry and colorful baskets will be set up for guests to shop.  VIP access ticket holders will attend a private reception, featuring an address by Kaguri and an opportunity to meet the Caring For The World Films production team.

2026: Connect Today for a Better Tomorrow (And Beyond)

    Thursday, January 15, 2026
    Ross MacRae, CEO, Agency Source

In 2026, the thing that stands out most is how fast this industry is moving, faster than at any point I’ve seen in my career. Agencies, brands, and production companies are constantly shifting, merging, restructuring, and rebuilding. And the people inside them are moving just as quickly. The average lifespan of an agency creative these days is about 18 months. That means if you connect with someone today, chances are they’ll be somewhere completely different by next year, maybe even brand-side. The good news is that you’re essentially building a relationship with multiple clients at once - as long as you keep track of where they go! That level of movement changes what sales and outreach actually mean. When I started, sales in our industry were seen as unnecessary, even a bit smarmy. Agencies had internal service buying teams whose role was to be aware of what production services were out there--which meant that production companies and reps could remain on the agencies' radar with little effort. But today, those agency-side roles have disappeared, and the responsibility has shifted wholly to production companies and reps to make sure they are continuously visible. Whether people like the word “sales” or not, the truth is that you cannot rely on posting your reels on your site and expecting the phone to ring. It never really worked that way, and it certainly doesn’t now. One of the biggest misunderstandings I still encounter is about what a contact database is for. People assume it’s just a place to download email addresses and send out massive blasts. That was never the right way to do it, not 15... Read More
