CARTONI to Introduce Master 65 at NAB

MASTER 65 features a payload capacity of 44 lbs. (20 kg) to 143 lbs. (65 kg)—the most in the MASTER series.

New fluid head is designed for broadcast and production cameras with long lenses; featuring the patented Magnum counterbalance system and new silicon fluid drag system.

    ROME -- (SPW) --

CARTONI continues its legacy of high quality Italian design and manufacturing with the introduction of its new flagship for the MASTER series of broadcast fluid heads. MASTER 65 is Cartoni’s response to persistent requests from broadcast camera operators for a durable, high performing fluid head alternative that can support heavy camera packages with large zoom lenses.

MASTER 65 features a payload capacity of 44 lbs. (20 kg) to 143 lbs. (65 kg)—the most in the MASTER series. It also includes Cartoni’s patented Magnum counterbalance system, providing perfect balance throughout the full +/- 90 ° tilt range with no dead spots. It also features a new silicon fluid drag system that provides the option for heavier drag settings while still offering smooth starts and stops, and no backlash.

“MASTER 65 was designed to carry the heaviest loads and stand up to the most rigorous use while still delivering the smooth performance demanded for today’s dynamic shooting style,” said CARTONI President and CEO Elisabetta Cartoni. “Operators will especially appreciate the new drag system. It virtually eliminates camera movement even on the tightest shots with long, zoomed lenses.”

CARTONI products can be seen at the Manios Digital/ Cartoni USA booth, Central Hall, C9521. NAB SHOW 2017 is April 24-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Although NAB will be the first time that MASTER 65 is shown in North America, the head has already been subject to extensive field testing by leading broadcast producers in Europe. “We are very pleased with the effort that Cartoni has put into designing the MASTER 65 head,” said Walter Ferrari, Technical Director at Rome-based Euroscena. “We are very impressed by its ease of use. The controls are right where you expect them to be and simple to operate. The counterbalance works beautifully, the camera movement feels effortless while still giving you complete control. It is also fully compatible with Vinten pan bars. That makes our life easier on location.”

MASTER 65 is just one of several new products Cartoni will be introducing at NAB. Others include:

    • SDS (Smart Deployment Series) Tripod, an improvement on CARTONI’s popular Smart Stop two-stage, adding single-lever trigger technology and a new Smart Lock mid-level spreader.
    • MASTER 30, a new broadcast fluid head for payloads up to 66 lbs. (30kg).
    • MAXIMA 30, a new digital cinematography fluid head with a payload range of 6.6 lbs (3kg) to 66lbs (30kg).
    • Lambda 25 3rd Axis is the latest accessory for CARTONI’s popular Lambda 25 head, featuring an innovative design allowing operators to perform complete 360° rotation on a third axis.
    • Total Dutch is a revolutionary head design for creating the ultimate in Dutch angle compositions.

Cartoni has a long and rich history of developing innovative camera support systems. Its legacy of high quality Italian design and manufacturing has resulted in numerous patents and awards, and helped shape the modern broadcast and cinematography industries. This dedication to quality and performance continues today in their Focus, Master, Maxima and Lambda systems.

Topshelf Launches As Curated Music Resource For brands That Can Hear The Difference

    Monday, March 16, 2026
    Elad Marish & Michael Frick

Today, brands have access to more music than ever before. Streaming catalogs boast hundreds of millions of tracks, and algorithms can surface many options in seconds. Despite this abundance, the work, the advertising, branded content, and digital campaigns meant to resonate with audiences increasingly sound like they were scored by the same invisible hand, pulled from the same subscription library, or using the same reference tracks.  Topshelf, announced by music executives Michael Frick and Elad Marish, is a direct response to that problem. Not just another licensing catalog. Not another discovery platform. Topshelf is a curated, rights-centered, creative infrastructure built from genuine artist relationships. The kind that took twenty years to build and cannot be replicated with a better interface. The roster reflects that premise. Topshelf’s catalog draws from artists and composers including Groove Armada, Donavon Frankenreiter, and Ubiquity Records, as well as work from Italian label Blind Faith Records and stalwart indie dance label Dirtybird. Not simply catalog acquisitions, they are relationships with artists, managers, and labels who trust where their music ends up and collaborators who have worked with Frick and Marish directly over the course of their careers. “The music and ad industry runs on relationships, but the bridge between those two sides has never really been efficient. Consolidation is creating a quiet brain drain across both industries. Topshelf is built to improve that, helping the right artists,... Read More
