Written, produced and directed by Dana Offenbach of CinemaStreet Pictures, the film is an exploration of relationships in modern-day India.

“My Sun Sets to Rise Again,” also written and produced by the director, was shot in Mumbai in 2016 with legendary cinematographer Sunil Patel behind the lens.

    LOS ANGELES -- (SPW) --

“My Sun Sets to Rise Again,” a thirty-minute short film written and directed by CinemaStreet Pictures founder Dana Offenbach, goes before audiences later this week in Los Angeles.

The film will screen at Landmark’s Regent Theatre, located at 1045 Broxton Ave. in L.A. Screenings will be held this Friday, September 14, through Monday, September 17, at 2 pm. Additional screenings will be held on Tuesday, September 18, at 1:15 pm.; on Wednesday, September 19, at 8:00 pm; and on Thursday, September 20, at 2:30 pm. For tickets and theatre information, visit the Regent Theatre web site at https://www.landmarktheatres.com/los-angeles/regent-theatre#showing.

Set in contemporary Mumbai, “My Sun Sets To Rise Again” is a dramatic story of forbidden love and one woman’s dreams that are bigger than the caste system that has suppressed her family for generations.

Years after meeting a precocious ten-year-old girl born in the maids’ quarter of an Indian Palace, whose family had been bred for generations to serve the Maharaja and Maharani, Offenbach wondered about the girl’s fate.  Her thoughts about what kind of future awaited her became the inspiration for the film’s story.

Shot over a five-day period in India in late 2016, “My Sun Sets to Rise Again” includes the noted Indian actor Parvin Dabas in its cast. Known for his work in “Monsoon Wedding,” “My Name is Kahn” and “Mirror Game,” Dabas also produced the film. It’s dedicated to the Indian actress Sujata Kumar, who plays the bookstore owner and who passed away several weeks ago. Offenbach was the producer on Kumar’s first feature film 14 years ago, and was the director on one of her last projects.

Offenbach worked with the legendary cinematographer Sunil Patel on “My Sun Sets to Rise Again,” which was edited by Rob Tortoriello. Color grading and finishing were performed at Nice Shoes in New York, with color artist Lenny Mastrandrea doing the grade. Opening titles were designed by Scarlett, and the mix was handled by independent audio engineer Casey Chester.

CinemaStreet is a certified woman-owned company, and Offenbach is listed with the roster of women directors and other artists found on FreeTheBid.com. The company, based in New York, is represented Yvette Lubinsky of Yvette Reps (www.yvettereps.com) in the West and Rich Schafler and Schafler Artists (www.schaflerartists.com) in the East.

Ray Straight Is Newest Editor at Cutters Detroit

    Wednesday, November 12, 2025
    Ray Straight, Editor, Cutters Detroit.

High-end editorial boutique Cutters is very proud to announce the promotion of Ray Straight to Editor. The announcement was made by Cutters Detroit Executive Producer Christina Anderson. Soon after graduating from the Television Production program at the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts (now part of Lawrence Technological University), Straight landed in the shipping and library department of Detroit’s General Television Network (GTN). From there, his multifaceted role as Assistant Editor continued to expand as the company’s Creative Editorial operation became RingSide Creative, then Cutters Detroit. Winning top honors in Camp Kuleshov Detroit in 2013, Straight learned from the best of the best en route to being named Associate Editor. Working on major campaigns for every automotive brand in Detroit, including many with GTB for Ford, his editorial expertise soared to new heights through an extended engagement with SC Johnson, editing high-profile videos for social media. On his journey to becoming a Cutters Detroit editor, Ray also takes great pride in his many editorial contributions to Lafayette American’s extensive campaign work for Mazda. According to Anderson, Straight’s promotion comes at a very exciting time for Cutters Detroit. Across its business landscape, the company is deepening both long-standing and new relationships, resulting in infectious energy and countless next-level creative collaborations. Also acknowledging Straight’s personal taste as being equally as sharp as his editing talent, Anderson explained, “Ray is incredibly thoughtful and passionate about what he does, and he brings a genuine sense of care to every project. His work speaks for itself, and clients keep coming back to collaborate with him again and again.... Read More
