Cognition’s Brian Pope to Discuss Photogrammetry and 3D Locations at AFCI

    HOLLYWOOD -- (SPW) --

Cognition founder and CEO Brian Pope will describe his company’s groundbreaking work in using photogrammetry to produce 3D digital models of locations and landscapes in a Power Chat Theater Presentation at the AFCI Locations Show in Los Angeles. Pope will make his presentation on Friday, April 7 at 12:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 8 at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Burbank.

A hybrid production studio, Cognition is a leader in emerging production and post-production services including virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D scanning. Its work in photogrammetry is opening new vistas in film, television and game production by making it possible to create 3D models of virtually any location or environment in precise and intricate detail.

For film commissions, property owners and communities seeking to attract production activity, Cognition’s work is particularly exciting as it promises to open locations previously inaccessible due to remoteness, environmental concerns and other factors. “Our work provides a value added opportunity for film commissions to market locations that may be seasonally sensitive and to provide visual effect assets that can enhance a location’s attractiveness,” says Pope. “It can even allow a film commission to market in a way that enables productions to plan shoots from a distance and in virtual reality. Film commissions can expand their inventory of available production sites.”

Pope will share examples of Cognition’s work including its stunning models of Utah’s Fremont Indian Petroglyphs and Iceland’s otherworldly caves. He will also discuss Cognition’s ongoing collaboration with The Arc/k Project, a nonprofit organization that is building digital archive of vulnerable cultural treasures, such as Syria’s Palmyra Castle, which was recently damaged by ISIS.

    The AFCI Locations Show runs April 6-8. Show hours are Thursday, April 6th, 12.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m.; Friday, April 7th, 11.00 a.m. 5.30 p.m.; and Saturday, April 8th, 11.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.
