Composer Matt Novack (Miracle Workers, Harley Quinn, Murderville, Medical Police) has officially launched Spacecat Music & Sound, a comprehensive audio studio offering original music composition, sound design, audio implementation, and direction for games, films, television, podcasts, and multimedia projects.
Novack brings over 20 years of experience in film and television to Spacecat Music & Sound. A classically trained composer and percussionist, Novack’s intuitively smart scores have created indelible moments, particularly in comedy, beginning with his breakout show Childrens Hospital. His music has enhanced performances by comedic talents such as Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Rob Corddry, Megan Mullally, Henry Winkler, and Will Arnett. Most recently, Novack’s compositions have been featured in the hit TBS series Miracle Workers, starring Daniel Radcliffe, and the acclaimed HBO Max series Harley Quinn. Novack, also an avid gamer, was described as “one of the funniest composers in Hollywood” by Awards Radar.
Spacecat Music & Sound brings together a talented group of industry-leading audio professionals to bring full-service, comprehensive solutions to a variety of media projects. Creative partners teaming up with Novack include Emmy®-nominated composer Allyson Newman, who also serves as co-president of the Alliance for Women Film Composers and is acclaimed for her work on The L Word Generation Q, Partner Track, and First Day; composer Greg Martin, whose diverse portfolio includes short films by Miranda July and Lake Bell, the hybrid animated special Scoody-Doo, Where are You Now! and major ad campaigns for Nike, NFL, and Southwest Airlines; and Frankie Radochia, a composer and lead sound designer known for his technical mastery and storytelling flair on projects for Red Bull, Toyota, Vogue, and Bose.
“I’ve always loved working with teams, and this launch makes that more front-facing while also offering sound design,” said Novack. “We’re a one-stop shop for all things audio, and I’ve assembled an exceptional team of composers, sound designers, lyricists, and audio implementation and direction specialists.”
Alongside the core team additional collaborators include composer ZW Buckley, known for his work on Barbie VR, Seattle Opera, and technical sound designer Paul Naser, recognized for his innovative approach to game audio. Alongside his partner, Mary, he has fostered nearly 40 cats and kittens over the years, including their first foster-fail Xena, who’s nickname “Space Cat” inspired the name of Novack’s company.
With a diverse array of talents and expertise, Spacecat Music & Sound aims to provide innovative and engaging audio experiences tailored specifically to each project’s needs, making it a go-to resource for creative teams seeking exceptional audio production.
