SCRATCH DI Workflow Ideal for 3D and RED Camera-Based Productions

    HONG KONG -- (SPW) --

Digital Magic Hong Kong, a leader in state-of-the-art post-production in Asia, has now established an ASSIMILATE <a href="www.assimilateinc.com.“>SCRATCH digital intermediate (DI) workflow to specifically handle the conform, color grading, and finishing of RED digital camera’s native R3D files, as well as 3D features shot with RED Digital Cinema’s cameras. Because <a href="www.assimilateinc.com.“>SCRATCH is resolution independent, it will also be used as a component of their 3D pipeline for film and other digital cameras/formats.

The recipient of numerous industry accolades and awards, Percy Fung founded Digital Magic Hong Kong thirty years ago to bring the most current technologies to the filmmaking communities in China and throughout Asia. Their client list is extensive and includes cutting-edge producers, directors, DPs, editors, VFX houses, and agencies.

Mr. Percy Fung: “The future of filmmaking and media entertainment is digital cinema, and we are going to see tremendous growth in 3D productions over the next few years. The advent of high-resolution digital cameras and real-time data workflows like <a href="www.assimilateinc.com.“>SCRATCH that include powerful tool suites are making this possible.”

    Why SCRATCH
Digital Magic Hong Kong is a leading pioneer of digital cinema in Asia. To stay current with the latest data acquisition cameras, such as RED, they needed a reliable data workflow that could read and easily work with the native raw imagery in high resolution for conforming, color grading, and finishing of RED-based features and projects. They also need a real-time data workflow and tool suite that has the power and performance to handle the complexities of 3D post production. <a href="www.assimilateinc.com.“>SCRATCH met all this criteria; is resolution independent for working with a variety of formats; and offers an upgrade path for new and enhanced capabilities in the future.

Mr. Fung adds, “Our goal is to always be a world-class post-production facility that delivers results of the highest quality to our clients. We offer an extensive range of post services and use best-of-breed software and hardware technologies. We recently upgraded our 2K/4K digital intermediate (DI) services to increase the quality, speed and power of the digital cinema post-production process. ASSIMILATE’s <a href="www.assimilateinc.com.“>SCRATCH has been added to our digital pipeline for this purpose.”

Sound Lounge Welcomes Mixer and Sound Designer Nicole Pettigrew

Mixer and Sound Designer Nicole Pettigrew

Sound Lounge has expanded its commercial roster with the addition of mixer and sound designer Nicole Pettigrew, who brings more than a decade of experience, a passion for sound design and a highly collaborative approach to her work. Pettigrew joins Sound Lounge following five years at PS260, where she established and led the company's in-house audio department as its sole audio engineer. Her work spans campaigns for brands including American Express, MLB, T-Mobile, New Balance, Titleist, David Yurman and DraftKings. She also mixed Gucci's 2024 AICP Best in Show-winning campaign. Prior to PS260, Pettigrew spent nine years at PLUSHnyc. A lifelong musician, Pettigrew brings a musical ear to her work and particularly gravitates toward projects that allow her to experiment with sound. Her approach pairs a traditional studio foundation rooted in listening, communication and client experience with an eagerness to explore new ideas and push the creative possibilities of a project. “The best sessions feel like a real collaboration,” says Pettigrew. “I want clients to feel like I’m part of their team, listening to their vision and then interpreting it, building on it and helping push the idea further. You’re handed all of these individual pieces, and I love the problem-solving that goes into figuring out how they fit together. There’s something really satisfying about getting to the end, stepping back and realizing you helped bring someone’s idea fully to life.” Pettigrew's arrival also reunites her with Sound Lounge...
