    LOS ANGELES -- (SPW) --

DUAL, the short sci-fi thriller from writer-director-producers Nitasha Bhambree and Declan Mulvey, has been selected for the 2026 Dances With Films Festival, one of the nation’s leading showcases for independent cinema. The filmmakers will also present a special stunt masterclass on June 24 at 3:00 p.m., highlighting their approach to action filmmaking.

DUAL is built around a simple but unsettling question: what if the person you loved came home and you weren’t sure if it was really them? The film follows a couple who retreat to a remote cabin in the woods during a global crisis, only to discover that the greatest threat to their survival is frighteningly familiar. Blending suspense, science fiction, horror, and action, the 20-minute thriller explores themes of trust, identity, and the lengths people will go to protect the ones they love.

The film stars Kiera O’Connor and Robbie Dema.

Festival audiences will be able to see DUAL on Friday, June 26, at 11:45 p.m. at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood as part of the festival’s official, industry-recognized Midnight Series lineup.

“We’re honored to have DUAL selected for Dances With Films and excited to share it with audiences in Los Angeles,” said Bhambree and Mulvey. “The festival has a longstanding reputation for elevating independent filmmakers. We’re looking forward to connecting with fellow artists and sharing our knowledge of action filmmaking with the DWF community.”

Bhambree and Mulvey are filmmakers and stunt professionals whose work spans stunt coordination, second-unit directing, and action performance across film and television. Their combined background in performance and narrative filmmaking informs a style that merges character-driven storytelling with dynamic action design. Bhambree and Mulvey are currently casting for their action-horror feature, Let’s Take A Walk In The Dark, which is slated to begin principal photography this fall.

For nearly three decades, Dances With Films has championed independent filmmakers and emerging voices, providing a platform for innovative storytelling and helping launch the careers of numerous filmmakers.

Nitasha Bhambree and Declan Mulvey are represented by Impact24 PR and are available for interviews during the festival and remotely.

Sound Lounge Welcomes Mixer and Sound Designer Nicole Pettigrew

Mixer and Sound Designer Nicole Pettigrew

Sound Lounge has expanded its commercial roster with the addition of mixer and sound designer Nicole Pettigrew, who brings more than a decade of experience, a passion for sound design and a highly collaborative approach to her work. Pettigrew joins Sound Lounge following five years at PS260, where she established and led the company's in-house audio department as its sole audio engineer. Her work spans campaigns for brands including American Express, MLB, T-Mobile, New Balance, Titleist, David Yurman and DraftKings. She also mixed Gucci's 2024 AICP Best in Show-winning campaign. Prior to PS260, Pettigrew spent nine years at PLUSHnyc. A lifelong musician, Pettigrew brings a musical ear to her work and particularly gravitates toward projects that allow her to experiment with sound. Her approach pairs a traditional studio foundation rooted in listening, communication and client experience with an eagerness to explore new ideas and push the creative possibilities of a project. “The best sessions feel like a real collaboration,” says Pettigrew. “I want clients to feel like I’m part of their team, listening to their vision and then interpreting it, building on it and helping push the idea further. You’re handed all of these individual pieces, and I love the problem-solving that goes into figuring out how they fit together. There’s something really satisfying about getting to the end, stepping back and realizing you helped bring someone’s idea fully to life.” Pettigrew's arrival also reunites her with Sound Lounge...
