    Four Location Managers Accepted Into The Motion Picture Academy

    LOS ANGELES -- (SPW) --

    The Location Managers Guild International is proud to announce and congratulate four LMGI members who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, “Class of 2024”.  Members Douglas Dresser (Baby Driver, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Little Women), Sam Hutchins (Joker, Fate of the Furioujs, Ghostbusters), Peggy Pridemore (Forest Gump, Argo, Minority Report) and Rick Schuler (A Star is Born, Being The Ricardos, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood), are the latest Location Professionals to be invited to join the prestigious organization.
     
    “Being invited to join the Academy is a testament to the indispensable creative contributions these Location Professionals have made to the industry,” states LMGI President John Rakich. “They each exemplify the highest standards of our craft.  We are honored to have them as members, and thrilled to celebrate this remarkable achievement, a true milestone in any screen based professional’s career.

The LMGI was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation as the LMGA and rebranded in 2016 to reflect its growing international membership. The LMGI is not a labor union and does not represent Location Managers or Scouts in wage or working condition negotiations.

    Tonebenders Podcast and INDEPTH Sound Design Join Forces For First Annual SoundDay LA

    Hollywood’s sound community gathered at the Glen Glenn Film Center over the weekend to celebrate their craft and recognize the Emmy®-nominated sound artists behind several of the year’s biggest TV shows. The first-ever edition of SoundDay LA featured sound editors and mixers from such hit shows as Stranger Things, Spider-Noir, The Pitt, Pluribus, Hacks, DTF St. Louis, Shrinking and Widow’s Bay. The daylong event was hosted by two-time Academy Award®-winning sound designer Mark Mangini, and featured live episodes of both the Tonebenders Podcast with host Timothy Muirhead, and INDEPTH Sound Design with creator Mike James Gallagher. SoundDay LA sold out within days of being announced. Doors opened at noon to a long line of sound professionals, and Stage 1 was standing room only from the first panel to the last. Mangini took the stage to introduce a series of conversations and demos, including:
