"The Sex Lives of College Girls," created by Mindy Kaling and now streaming on HBO Max. Edited on Avid Media Composer at Hula Post and remotely using Hula Post Everywhere.

Provided Editing Systems, Creative Space & Remote Workflow Solution

    Burbank, CA -- (SPW) --

Hula Post, a woman-owned postproduction company, announces today that it supplied editing systems for The Sex Lives of College Girls, premiering the first two episodes Thursday, November 18, 2021, on HBO Max. Hula Post provided Avid workstations, storage, workflow design, creative editorial space, and remote editing systems. The new series, created by the multiple Emmy nominated Mindy Kaling (The Office), follows four college roommates arriving at New England's prestigious Essex College. A bundle of contradictions and hormones, the girls are equal parts lovable and infuriating as they navigate their new, free lives on campus.

Hula Post created a hybrid editing solution for the show, with Mat Greenleaf (Never Have I Ever) cutting the first episode and Kayla Plewes two through ten.  Hula Post’s engineers initially set the team up remotely in their homes using Hula Post Everywhere due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Once it was safe to work in an office environment, they moved into a suite in Hula Post’s 4000 Alameda Ave facility in Burbank, one of three Los Angeles locations.  Hula Post provided two Avid Media Composers and 40TB NEXIS storage.

Hula Post’s engineers developed Hula Post Everywhere in response to the pandemic so that editors could work from home. The remote editing system consists of an Avid Media Composer set up locally at Hula Post for each editor on a project, then uses a Residential Remote Interface in-home installation. Each user accesses their system via a secure connection with dedicated bandwidth and storage.  The media is stored in the Datacenter, set up in a unique, secure environment at Hula Post’s Victory Blvd. headquarters in Burbank.

The Sex Lives of College Girls is a 3 Arts Entertainment, Kaling International, and Warner Bros. Television production. Watch the trailer, and follow it on Instagram and Twitter.

STX Entertainment Relaunches With New Capital Marking Next Chapter For Independent Filmmaking

    Monday, January 12, 2026

STX Entertainment is entering its next chapter, with new capital, an exciting new slate, and a suite of production services designed to support independent filmmakers. While STX will remain focused on making studio quality films at the right price, it also has plans to invest in the indie ecosystem to drive greater production across the global market.

“The reboot of STX comes at a time where independent filmmakers face challenges across development, packaging, financing, execution and distribution,” shares Peter Coleman, CEO of STX Entertainment. “STX will be a partner throughout the process, backed by a proven track record and a commitment to continue pushing the edge of innovation to support the creative process.”

With this transaction, STX will become affiliated with Crown Productions and Film Services International (FSI), the entertainment services family of global companies, which includes the storied brand Film Finances International as well as production and post-production resources.

“FSI’s foundation was centered in helping indie filmmakers get financing 75 years ago,” Coleman continues. “Now, with our combined businesses, we’re extending STX’s global reach and positioning it as the mini-major studio for independent films. We help bring a filmmaker's vision to life, support its distribution and, of course, continue producing our own projects.”

STX has delivered standout films such as “Bad Moms” ($183M), “Hustlers”($157M), “The Gentlemen”($115M), “I Feel Pretty ($95M), “The Gift” ($59M), “21 Bridges” ($49M), “Countdown” ($48M), as well as “Greenland,” and its sequel... Read More
