Mode Project Pulls Back The Curtain on Frontgate’s Creative Process

New Short Film Reveals the Captivating Story Behind the Luxury Brand’s Product Designs

    CHICAGO -- (SPW) --

Mode Project, a Chicago-based design and production studio, is proud to announce the launch of a short film for luxury catalog retailer Frontgate. The film, titled No Detail Too Small, explores the behind-the-scenes creative design process at Frontgate.

Beginning with a brainstorming meeting at Frontgate’s West Chester, OH headquarters, No Detail Too Small follows a chair — from the company’s new Campaign line of furniture — from idea to product. The chair, inspired by the Frontgate design team’s trip to Paris, is sketched, modeled and prototyped, followed by quality checks at the factory and a final review before introducing the finished piece to customers, with the entire creative team working closely throughout the entire process.

“An extraordinary amount of detailed care and passion is put into everything we make,” explained Andrew Daniel, Frontgate’s VP eCommerce, Creative/Content, “but usually the customer only sees the finished piece. We wanted to show what it took to make these products. We saw Mode Project’s work and knew immediately that they would be the perfect partner to tell this story.”

Mode Project, whose team has worked on a number of high-profile content marketing films for luxury brands, executed the entire filmmaking process, from concept to delivery.

“Frontgate is a brand with an incredible backstory behind the products that they sell,” said Mode Project Principal Brooks Ruyle, who directed the film. “We wanted to reveal that honest, authentic brand story in a way that gave life to those products, made them much more than a piece of furniture, and truly showed what makes them superior. We’re very excited about working with Frontgate, and couldn’t be more proud of the work we did together.”

Mode Project’s content marketing clients include Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, Marriott International, Gogo, Upright Cyclist, United Airlines and non-profit CASA, whose collaboration with Mode won two Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Chicago / Midwest Chapter.
