Color grading nominations come for “Labor Day,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Reign” and “Game of Thrones.”

Santa Monica, CA -- (SPW) --

Artists from Modern VideoFilm are nominated for four awards in color grading categories in the Hollywood Post Alliance’s 2014 HPA Awards scheduled for November 6th. Aimed at fostering awareness of post production and promoting creative and technical excellence in the field, the HPA Awards are the entertainment industry’s most prestigious awards event for post production.

Modern VideoFilm colorist Natasha Leonnet is nominated for Outstanding Color Grading—Feature Film for her work on Labor Day (Jason Reitman, director; Eric Steelberg, cinematographer). In the same category, colorist Jill Bogdanowicz is nominated for her work on The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson, director; Robert Yeoman, cinematographer).

In the category Outstanding Color Grading –Television, David Cole is nominated for his work on the pilot for Reign (Brad Silberling, director; Checco Varese, cinematographer). Cole won the 2013 HPA Award for Outstanding Color Grading—Feature Film for Life of Pi.

Referring to his experience on Reign, director Brad Silberling called Modern VideoFilm his “secret weapon.” “I’m tremendously proud of the work we did on the Reign pilot,” Silberling said. “My partner in every frame of the story was colorist Dave Cole. In nuance, sensitivity, and genuine artistry, he’s unparalleled. I can’t think of a more fitting nominee.”

Colorist Joe Finley is nominated for his work on the Game of Thrones episode Mockingbird. It’s the third straight year that Finley has been nominated for Outstanding Color Grading—Television. He won the award in 2012 for Game of Thrones.

“It’s a tremendous honor and extremely humbling to have our work chosen for acknowledgement by our peers,” said Mark Smirnoff, President of Creative Services, Modern VideoFilm. “We have assembled a world-class group of talent and we are proud that their work has spoken to so many.”

Boris FX CrumplePop 2026.5: New SoundApp ARA Plugin

Boris FX CrumplePop expands its powerful, easy-to-use AI audio toolkit to include ARA plugin support in SoundApp. The new 2026.5 release allows users to work directly in top digital audio workstations (DAWs), such as Pro Tools, Boris FX Samplitude, and Boris FX Sequoia. Additionally, CrumplePop 2026.5 introduces a simplified multi-host product offering. Previously available only as a standalone application, the plugin version of SoundApp saves time and effort by keeping audio professionals, content creators, and podcasters within their preferred ARA application. Simply make an adjustment, see it in the plugin, and render it directly to your track. No dealing with multiple files or importing/exporting.
