The film has been garnering awards and gaining momentum since its premiere.

    LOS ANGELES -- (SPW) --

SELENA GOMEZ: MY MIND & ME – the raw and intimate feature doc that has racked up honors and accolades since its premiere as the opening film at AFI last November – has been nominated as Best Music Documentary at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, to be telecast on May 7, 2023. Bicoastal Union Editorial was Lead Post Vendor for the film, with Partner/Editor Jim Haygood serving as Editorial Consultant and Katherine LeBlond as Producer; Staff Editor Rodrigo Brazão edited the film. Directed by Alek Keshishian, SELENA GOMEZ: MY MIND & ME began running on AppleTV on November 4, 2022. The song of the same name was shortlisted for the 2023 Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and the film won "Favorite Documentary" at the iHeartRadio Awards in March 2023.

The film spans six years in the life of Gomez, a singer, songwriter, actress, producer, entrepreneur and activist who achieves unfathomable stardom and the dark depths that come with it. Her own mental health challenges led to the formation of the Rare Impact Fund, dedicated to making a change in the lives of young people because Gomez – as the site explains – “believes that everyone, regardless of their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or background, should have access to the resources needed to support their mental health.”

As a recording artist, Gomez’s accomplishments include more than 210 million singles sold worldwide and in excess of 45 billion global streams of her music. She was Grammy-nominated for her first all-Spanish EP and earned an Emmy nomination for her role in the critically acclaimed series “Only Murders in the Building,” in which she stars opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short. She recently broke the record for the most followers on Instagram, at 400 million.

“Selena Gomez is the real deal — talented, genuine, relatable, and fearless,” said LeBlond, whose producing credits with Union include ALWAYS JANE, HOUSE OF SECRETS: THE BURARI DEATHS, and JANIS: LITTLE GIRL BLUE. “Getting to work with her team and Apple TV+ on this film was a career highlight."

The MTV Movie & TV Awards returns to Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger for a live telecast on May 7 at 8 p.m. ET. Drew Barrymore, also nominated for an MTV Movie & TV Award this year, will host.

How Cutting “Wicked” Films Changed Oscar Nominee Myron Kerstein For Good

    Tuesday, January 13, 2026
Myron Kerstein, ACE behind the scenes working on "Wicked" and "Wicked: For Good"

While having a phenomenal range of credits across genres, Kerstein definitely cemented his reputation as a music man of the editing room with Tick, tick…. Boom! and Wicked earning him two Academy Awards® nominations. He shared with us some of his secrets on tackling the tremendous task of finishing this epic journey and how finding intimate moments in grand scenes shapes his approach to work. You have been Oscar® nominated for Tick, tick… Boom! and notable for Wicked last year. Are musicals like second nature, what do you love about working on them or what attracts you to them? I love working on musicals because when a character does not have the ability to say how they feel, singing it is another form of expression. So oftentimes that singing is sort of a version of a monologue inside their heads, and I love to explore that form of expression. It's unlike anything else in any other genre, like voiceover, because the musical is a very specific way in which characters can express themselves. I also happen to really love music. So cutting musicals satisfies this love of mine of this specific form of expression, but also my love for music and the genre itself. The genre has such a long history. There's so many incredible artists who have used this genre to express different stories from the Music Man or Grease or The Umbrellas of Cherbourg or Read More
