Bicoastal production company Park Pictures’ acclaimed Director Alison Maclean (Jesus’ Son) brings her new film The Rehearsal, executive produced by Park Pictures, to the 54th New York Film Festival. The feature will premiere in the NYFF’s Main Slate section and is nominated in the festival’s Projections competition. The film, Maclean’s fourth feature, is adapted from The Luminaries author Eleanor Catton’s first novel and will screen Sept. 30-Oct. 16.

The Rehearsal centers around first-year acting student Stanley, played by James Rolleston (Boy, The Dark Horse, The Dead Lands), who mines his girlfriend’s family scandal as material for the end-of-the-year show at drama school. His girlfriend Isolde is played by Ella Edward (“Munted,” Just Think of Us Both.) Kerry Fox (Downriver) plays the troupe’s no-nonsense acting teacher. Maclean’s acclaimed previous films include Crush (1992) and Jesus’ Son (1999), along with her award-winning short Kitchen Sink (1989.)

NYFF’s Main Slate competition features 25 of the most exciting new feature films from around the world.
