    NEW YORK -- (SPW) --

Audio Post Producer, Bob Pomann and Supervising Sound Editor, Justin Kaupp of the Emmy® award-winning Manhattan based audio post house, Pomann Sound, {EST. 1984} completed the mix and sound design for all 20+ episodes of Season 1 of the Apple Original Animated Series, Duck & Goose.

On July 8th, 2022, Apple TV+ kicked off their all-new summer shows with the highly praised animated series, Duck & Goose, as part of their kids’ series lineup. Inspired by the New York Times bestselling books by Tad Hills, the preschool series celebrates the unique friendship of Duck & Goose, two best feathered friends that don’t always see beak to beak.

With a target audience of Pre-K/Kindergarten, an age of easy distraction, Pomann’s approach to the sound was both streamlined and purposeful. The show takes place outdoors in a meadow by a stream. The creative intention was to keep the environment peaceful and serene. Understanding the science behind sound and how it can be manipulated, Kaupp created a lush ambience with character. It is something you may not notice, but will surely feel. To achieve this, he designed a palette of all-natural action sounds, unlike the traditional cartoon sounds. But the biggest challenge still remained, recording the sound and speed of a bird flap.

Bob Pomann purchased real feathers to find the proper texture and set up in the studio to record wing Foley. Then they experimented with cloths like pillow, felt, suede and even an old pillow case. But it was only when Kaupp changed his daughter’s diaper, that the perfect sound accidentally appeared. She grabbed a clean diaper and began shaking it really fast. That was it! Soon came recordings of a thick overnight diaper, a lighter pull-up, and a diaper pad to create the signature sounds by flapping the diapers at various speeds.

Pomann, currently working on the brand-new Disney Plus animated series, KIFF, is known for their original sound design for Nickelodeon/Disney’s Emmy®-award winning Doug, and has sound designed and mixed multiple animated series like Little Einsteins, Stanley, Jo-Jo’s Circus, Codename: Kids Next Door and many, many more. Highlights include features like Blind (Hulu), An Imperfect Murder (Netflix), and series Love After Lockup (WE tv), Two Shallow Graves (#1 show discovery+) plus Mercury and Clio award-winning commercials for radio and TV.

Pomann Sound’s history of sonic storytelling has enabled creative solutions across the board on soundtracks for spots, series and feature films.

2026: Connect Today for a Better Tomorrow (And Beyond)

    Thursday, January 15, 2026
    Ross MacRae, CEO, Agency Source

In 2026, the thing that stands out most is how fast this industry is moving, faster than at any point I’ve seen in my career. Agencies, brands, and production companies are constantly shifting, merging, restructuring, and rebuilding. And the people inside them are moving just as quickly. The average lifespan of an agency creative these days is about 18 months. That means if you connect with someone today, chances are they’ll be somewhere completely different by next year, maybe even brand-side. The good news is that you’re essentially building a relationship with multiple clients at once - as long as you keep track of where they go! That level of movement changes what sales and outreach actually mean. When I started, sales in our industry were seen as unnecessary, even a bit smarmy. Agencies had internal service buying teams whose role was to be aware of what production services were out there--which meant that production companies and reps could remain on the agencies' radar with little effort. But today, those agency-side roles have disappeared, and the responsibility has shifted wholly to production companies and reps to make sure they are continuously visible. Whether people like the word “sales” or not, the truth is that you cannot rely on posting your reels on your site and expecting the phone to ring. It never really worked that way, and it certainly doesn’t now. One of the biggest misunderstandings I still encounter is about what a contact database is for. People assume it’s just a place to download email addresses and send out massive blasts. That was never the right way to do it, not 15... Read More
