There’s an IP in my workflow, or was that a thunderbolt:  Digital Storage for modern 8K/4K, HDR, VR Content Creation and Post Production

Media workflows at larger facilities are moving to commodity network architectures while smaller facilities are using advanced direct attached storage.  How will this change the requirements for digital storage in media and entertainment?  Quality and immersive video content requires increasing digital storage and new digital storage technologies. Once captured, the vast pool of captured and created content requires sophisticated and high-quality storage to support editing and other post-production tasks. Post-production requires streaming video quality and latencies that are very different from traditional enterprise storage.  In addition, economic factors favor the creation of more collaborative workflows that span distance and time and create greater demand for networked and on-line storage, archiving working content, as well as more semiconductor storage to speed performance.  This session examines the challenges facing content capture and post-production storage, particularly with the transition to IP-based workflows and software defined storage as well as modern DAS storage.  Listen to the experiences of filmmakers and storage developers. Find out what is required now and what is projected for the future.
