CORTEX v5.2 includes expanded support for IMF and Dolby Vision™ CMv4. All-new CORTEX QC offers an easy and cost-effective solution for media analysis.

At NAB 2019, MTI Film will present the latest advancements to CORTEX, its industry-leading family of solutions for managing media from the set to the screen. The company will demonstrate a new version of its CORTEX software (v5.2), which includes HDMI tunneling for Dolby Vision™ on high-end consumer monitors. It will also launch CORTEX QC, a new low-cost, standalone product for media analysis.
Relied on by users worldwide, CORTEX supports all popular delivery formats and is the most comprehensive and easiest to use workflow solution available. “CORTEX continues to set the standard among workflow utilities,” says MTI Film Director of Product Development Randy Reck. “With this new release, we’ve made it even simpler to work with dailies, manage projects through production and post, and deliver finished media.”
At NAB, MTI Film will be demonstrating CORTEX at booth SL 14807. The show runs April 8-11 in Las Vegas.
CORTEX QC is a reference playback utility equipped with a complete set of image, audio, data and metadata evaluation tools. Users can review media and check for anomalies without tying up an expensive workstation. Compatible with all popular delivery file formats, it can be used to import IMF packages and perform quality-control tests on all packaged components.
CORTEX v5.2 now supports Dolby Vision Content Mapping version 4 (CMv4) in addition to v2. It also supports the new format’s tunneling feature, enabling HDMI output to Dolby Vision-compatible consumer monitors. “CORTEX ensures color fidelity is maintained from the post-production suite to the home,” says Reck. “As part of their review process, users can watch media in a form identical to what consumers will see on their Dolby Vision compatible televisions.”

- Dual HDR/SDR output. Colorists, QC specialists and others can conduct side-by-side comparisons.
- Improved Dead Pixel Detection. Ripple accepted dead pixels throughout the composition.
- Support for the latest NVIDIA GPUs, including GEFORCE® RTX 2080 Ti
- Support for AJA Kona 5 4K capture card.
- Support for ProRes RAW, Blackmagic RAW and AS-11 DPP
- Support for DCP with subtitles and encryption.
- Read MPEG-2 AVI files
- Read DNxHR MOV/MXF OP-1a
- Create Fox JPEG 2000 ASM and MOV Proxy files
- Create DNxHR MOV/MXF OP-1a
- Label audio tracks in ProRes MOV files before rendering
- Improved Copy tool, LTO LTFS archiving and PDF reporting.

In response to user feedback, we’ve taken tasks, like analysis and shot detection, that were time-consuming and laborious, and reduced them to simple, one-step operations.”
