    The debut screening of the Showcase Reel will take place during SHOOT's 15th Annual New Directors Showcase Event on Thursday, May 25th from 5:30-9:30pm at the DGA Theatre in New York City.

    SHOOT® Magazine, the leading publication for commercial and entertainment motion picture production, today announced the names of the 32 directors / directing teams who made the final cut to be included in the SHOOT 2017 15th Annual New Directors Showcase.

    The debut screening of the Showcase Reel will take place during SHOOT's Annual New Directors Showcase Event on Thursday, May 25th from 5:30-9:30pm at the DGA Theatre in New York City.  A special “Meet the Directors” panel and After-Party will follow the Screening.  The SHOOT Directors/Producers Forum takes place from 1:30-5:00pm before the SHOOT New Directors Showcase.

    We’re keeping company affiliations and selected work under wraps until the May/June Issue is published oout on May 22nd.  In broad strokes, this year’s NDS Class of 2017 is a fantastically diverse group of directors including recent film school grads, agency creatives and experienced cinematographers and editors who are making the transition to director. There are commercials, spec spots, shorts, documentaries, features and branded content.

    This mix of work on the SHOOT New Directors Showcase Reel is a reflection of the industry at large–as is SHOOT itself as exemplified in our multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary, multi-platform coverage, perhaps most notably our Directors Issues in which  profiles of feature, TV and commercial directors reside side by side.

    As embodied in our coverage and underscoring the relevance of our NDS competition and event, SHOOT’s mission is to connect the worlds of advertising and entertainment while also bringing content creators together with the collaborators who hire them.

    On May 26th SHOOT's New Directors Showcase mico-site will go live where the industry will be able to view the NDS Reel along with individual profile pages on each director with headshot, video of selected work, additional Q&As, and contact information.

    About The New Directors Search / Showcase Reel…
    Each year SHOOT conducts a worldwide search to discover the best up-and-coming directors who, based on their initial work, show promise to soon make major positive contributions to advertising and/or entertainment in its traditional and emerging forms. The search is conducted by SHOOT's editorial staff with input from advertising agency creative directors & heads of production, as well as production company heads and established directors. This year's search was conducted from January 15-March 31, 2016. Criteria for entry is directing any type of advertising or entertainment content professionally less than 3 years.

    International Cinematographers Guild Announces 27th Emerging Cinematographer Award Honorees

    The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) has chosen eight honorees to receive the 2025 Emerging Cinematographer Awards (ECAs). The 27th annual awards gala and reception will be held at the Television Academy Saban Media Center Wolf Theatre, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
