Stephen Arnold Music Creates "The World Is Here" for Fox Television Stations' FIFA World Cup Coverage
    DALLAS -- (SPW) --

Stephen Arnold Music (SAM), the world leader in sonic branding, created a dynamic, soccer-themed anthem dubbed The World Is Here for Fox Television Stations (FTS) in support of coverage of FIFA World Cup on its stations nationwide. SAM worked under the supervision of FTS VP/Creative Services John Kukla.

The anthem was used in promos and program graphics localized for each of FTS’s 29 stations, including those in Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles. The promos incorporate footage of local landmarks, regional soccer clubs and community watch parties, and route viewers to station apps and the FOX LOCAL app for localized streaming and event coverage. The promos were created by Robert Ayson and Chris Ivey of KDFW-TV (Fox 4).

“The World Is Here not only captures the spirit of World Cup matches broadcast on the Fox Network, it also inspires pride in viewers for their cities as hosts of an incredible event and visitors from around the world,” says Chad Cook, SAM’s president and creative director.

The anthem is a high-energy, cinematic composition built on driving percussion, electronic dance rhythms and brass stings that echo the atmosphere of a live match. It also integrates vocal elements including the familiar soccer cheer “Ole, Ole, Ole.” SAM produced customized versions of the anthem for each urban market, drawing on Latin pop, Afrobeat and other genres to reflect each city’s unique culture and heritage.

“The piece is built on a foundation of bold percussion and vocal chants, with an eclectic blend of international instruments: mallets, synths and strings,” says Cook. He added that the anthem also features updated motifs drawn from FTS’s established sonic branding, also produced by SAM.

Along with the full anthem, SAM delivered a custom sonic branding toolkit of stems, sub-mixes and shorter edits, engineered to sync with each station’s on-air graphics, transitional wipes and segment branding — giving local editors flexibility to cut the music around city-specific voiceovers and schedules.

“The music was used to support every type of content related to the World Cup on FTS,” explains Cook. “That included sports and news features, lifestyle show interview segments and so on. It’s all neatly tied into the station’s branding.”

Stephen Arnold Music Creates Soundtrack For FIFA Fan Zone Projection Mapping Experience at Rockefeller Center

Stephen Arnold Music Created Soundtrack for FIFA Fan Zone Projection Mapping Experience at Rockefeller Center

This summer, Rockefeller Center's iconic tower became a 850-foot canvas for one of the most ambitious projection mapping displays ever staged in Manhattan. The centerpiece of FIFA’s World Cup festivities at the NYNJ World Cup 26 & Telemundo Fan Village, the display was conceived and produced by immersive technology pioneer Quince Imaging in collaboration with Telemundo. Stephen Arnold Music (SAM), the world leader in sonic branding, designed and produced dynamic soundtracks for nine unique projection experiences featured in the event. The display ran for 20 days from the quarterfinals through the World Cup final on July 19th. Working under the direction of Quince Imaging VP of Innovation Eric Gazzillo, SAM built an audio experience intended to match the scale and energy of the projection mapping while capturing the atmosphere of both the World Cup and New York City itself. The installation used the natural architectural lines of the tower to create the impression of a building shifting and reacting in real time, with high-definition content that included tournament branding, dynamic soccer graphics and clips from Telemundo broadcasts. "Our goal was to capture the excitement of FIFA World Cup soccer and the vibe of New York City," says Whitney Arnold, SAM's president of music services. "The sound design blends natural urban sounds characteristic of New York with authentic sounds of soccer play, fan reaction and broadcast coverage." The soundtrack draws on several distinct layers of audio. The mix incorporates commentary from Spanish-language Telemundo sportscasters, including the drawn-out "GOL" call that plays over highlights of historic and live match victories. Underneath the broadcast elements, SAM built percussive crescendos and drum... Read More
