Carhartt "Generations" directed by Andrew Laurich of ContagiousLA.
Forthcoming Three-part Anthology Produced by ContagiousLA Chronicles the American Family Business.
Santa Monica, CA -- (SPW) --
Helmed by director Andrew Laurich, Carhartt “Generations” tells the stories of three different generational business throughout America in forthcoming short films. The two-minute teaser for the campaign was one of ten pieces shortlisted on Friday for the “Low Budget” category. Inspired by Carhartt’s five generations of family ownership, the piece was released for the company’s 125th anniversary, and includes music by YouTube sensation, Rob Cantor.
“We’re so proud to be a part of this inspirational campaign”, notes ContagiousLA EP Natalie Sakai. Filming took place over the summer of 2014 as the team traveled between Michigan and California, profiling a fishing family, a scrap metal business, and a cattle ranch. “At its heart, these stories are about the the resilience and fortitude it takes to keep a family business alive. 'Family' and 'business' are not often synonymous”, Sakai adds.
The project was a ground up collaboration between Laurich – who had previously directed Carhartt’s “Made by Hand” film, ContagiousLA, and the Carhartt internal creative team. The films deploy a combination of C300 and super 8mm footage to give a nostalgic, archival look. “Our goal was to make this feel like a post card to the American family,” Laurich explains, “the result was a deeply personal, and moving experience."

Poster Art for "Chisel", a short film directed by Julissa Scopino and featuring Nico Bustamante.
Carmona Pictures, a New York-based production company, proudly announces that Chisel, the short film written and directed by Julissa Scopino, has been selected as an official entry at the 2024 Chelsea Film Festival. The film, which powerfully explores the immigrant experience, will screen at the prestigious event, held from October 16-20 at Regal Theaters Union Square in New York City.
In Chisel, a jobless teenage immigrant desperately seeks employment, only to be met with cold indifference from fellow laborers on a street corner who are also desperately looking for work. Isolated and longing to fit in, he faces a moral crossroads: follow the right path or get involved in a risky opportunity that promises quick success. The film offers a raw and urgent portrayal of the immigrant struggle, addressing labor exploitation, inequality, and the harsh realities of chasing the American dream. The film's main character is portrayed by actor Nico Bustamante (Riverdale, Gotti, and Bel Canto), who brings an emotional depth and authenticity to the role, capturing the internal struggle and desperation of his character.
Chiselย draws its power from Scopinoโs sharp directorial vision and her dedication to illuminating this untold story of the Latino labor community. Influenced by cinematic giants like Vittorio De Sica (The Bicycle Thief) and Martin Scorsese (Gangs of New York), Scopino captures the emotional and physical toll ofย working-class life in an unforgiving system.
"This film resonates profoundly with me as I witness the pervasive struggles in our New York City streets, where individuals grapple with challenges ranging from theft and violence to homelessness and unemployment," states Scopino. "The impact of inflation has... Read More
