    NEW YORK -- (SPW) --

In a sign of its ongoing commitment to independent film, Technicolor-PostWorks, New York, provided post production services for eight films screening at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The facility delivered a variety of creative and technical services, ranging from editorial systems to color grading, for the films, which include two dramatic features, a comedy feature, three feature-length documentaries and two shorts.

Several of the films went through final post production processing at The Room, Technicolor-PostWorks’ boutique finishing facility, founded by master conforming editor Ben Murray. Technicolor-PostWorks has a long history of support for Sundance, including this year serving as an Official Technology Supplier.

"We are very happy to have contributed to the festival this year—a particularly exciting one for New York filmmakers,” said Technicolor-PostWorks CTO Joe Beirne.  “Our Sundance projects reflect an immense range, from an intimately tranquil narrative, Memphis, to Edet Belzberg’s magisterial study of the struggle against genocide, Watchers of the Sky. We continue our long collaboration with Alex Gibney with his Finding Fela!, which opens up the life of the transcendent Afro-Beat star, and are proud of our color work on Jeff Preiss’s  Low Down, John D. Harkrider’s All the Beautiful Things, and David Wain’s They Came Together, as well as on the short films Immaculate Reception and Jonathan's Chest. Our warmest congratulations go to all the filmmakers.”

Technicolor-PostWorks contributed to the following Sundance films:

All the Beautiful Things; documentary; John D. Harkrider, director; Brian O’Carroll, cinematographer. Technicolor-PostWorks provided dailies, 4K conform and color, and film recording; Tif Luckenbill was the conforming editor and Sam Daley was the colorist.  The Room’s Ben Murray provided VFX.

Finding Fela!; documentary; Alex Gibney, director; Maryse Alberti, cinematographer. The Room’s Allie Ames was the conforming editor and Jack Lewars was the colorist.

Immaculate Reception; short; Charlotte Glynn, director; Greta Zozula, cinematographer. Technicolor-PostWorks’ Sam Daley was the colorist.

Jonathan’s Chest; short; Christopher Radcliff, director; Jeff Powers, cinematographer. Technicolor-PostWorks’ Sam Daley was the colorist.

Low Down; feature drama; Jeff Preiss, director; Christopher Blauvelt, cinematographer. Technicolor-PostWorks’ Tim Stipan was the colorist.

Memphis; feature drama; Tim Sutton, director; Chris Dapkins, cinematographer. The Room provided 4K color; Jack Lewars was the colorist.

They Came Together; feature comedy; David Wain, director; Tom Houghton, cinematographer. Technicolor-PostWorks’ Sam Daley provided color grading.  The Room’s Jeff Cornell was the conforming editor.

Watchers of the Sky; documentary; Edet Belzberg, director. The Room’s Ben Murray provided conform and color.

The latest version of the Emmy Award-winning software delivers a new AI deinterlace tool, four updated AI models, a new compositing workflow in the FX Editor, overhauled warp and displacement effects, upgraded wipe transitions, and greater creative control in Particle Illusion. “As we continue to leverage internal AI technology to build new tools, we always keep the needs of Continuum’s editors, artists, and content creators at the forefront,” states Boris Yamnitsky, CEO and Founder of Boris FX. “We carefully choose which types of tasks benefit from AI workflows, such as image restoration and masking.
