Bicoastal production company Park Pictures director Lance Acord and Anomaly New York employ lip-synched Oscar acceptance speeches delivered by regular people in a humorous new campaign for Kohl’s. In “Movie Night,” a father is ecstatic when the family gives him control of the television remote that night, and thanks his wife, daughter and parents with what turns out to be Cuba Gooding’s 1997 Best Supporting Actor Oscar speech.
In the other spots in the campaign, a little girl thanks her brother for nonchalantly offering her the front seat in the family car using Whoopi Goldberg’s 1990 Best Supporting Actress speech. The soundtrack of Jeff Bridges’ 2010 Best Actor win is used by a boy to express gratitude for his parents letting his buddy sleep over and a mother channels Penelope Cruz’s 2009 Best Supporting Actress speech when she is appointed the seat of honor at her daughter’s stuffed animal high tea.
