Comic icon Tracy Morgan is lending his talents to promote one of the most far-reaching federal policies to lift children out of poverty in more than 50 years. Following the recent passage of The American Rescue Plan--a $1.9 trillion package to help Americans recover from the devastation wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic--Common Sense Media has partnered with ad agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P) to encourage low income families to claim money due to them through the newly improved Child Tax Credit, amounting to as much as $3,600 per child in an eligible family for one year. GS&P created a series of PSAs to support the awareness effort starring Morgan.

Directed by Clay Weiner of Biscuit Filmworks, the spots--including this one titled “Not About Me”--feature Morgan making honest and funny appeals to these families, urging them to not leave their money on the table and to visit MyRescuePlan.org, a website Common Sense created to help families access the Child Tax Credit and other new benefits under the American Rescue Plan.

“We are proud to help with the follow-through of this game-changing legislation,” said Jeff Goodby, co-founder and co-chairman, GS&P. “There is nothing more important to our country than the health and nurturing of our children. Big thanks to Tracy for helping out.”

“It’s an incredible honor for us to be aiding the government’s effort to provide relief to millions of families who really need it,” said Jim Elliott, executive creative director at GS&P. “To have had the chance to write for Tracy and to shape work that delivers such an important message via his unmistakable humor has been a total joy.”
