Hunger is often a hidden issue in a country like America, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. In fact, more than 41 million people--13 million of them children--face hunger in this nation.

This video for Feeding America, done in conjunction with the recent World Food Day, sheds light on the problem, dispelling some myths along the way.

“Many people associate hunger with homelessness, but that is only a small portion of the people who are hungry in America,” said Catherine Davis, chief marketing & communications officer at Feeding America. “Often, they are neighbors or the people we see every day, but we simply don’t know that they don’t have enough food for themselves or their families. We wanted to call attention to that reality and how we can help.”
Feeding America is the largest hunger organization in America, and the country’s third largest charity. Feeding America works in every county in America, through 200 partner food banks, 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, and works with 2 million volunteers. The organization has been involved with disaster relief for the recent hurricanes and wildfires, and will continue to support the communities in the long term.

One at Optimus produced the pro bono project, “Hidden Hunger,” which was directed by Amanda Speva who co-wrote it with Anna Kate Roche who served as creative director on the piece.
