David Findlay, a 2019 SHOOT New Directors Showcase alum, is hitting the festival circuit with his latest short film, Found Me. This SHOOT ScreenWork entry is the trailer for that film.

Written and directed by Findlay, Found Me is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before heading to the SITGES Film Fest in Spain. Produced by Montreal company les Enfants, Found Me was shot in Quebec City in February. The film stars first-time actor Michel Poudrier and Nahema Ricci (Antigone, Canadian Screen Award for Performance in a Leading Role 2020, TIFF Rising Star, 2019).

Set in the foggy, twilight, arctic, dead of winter in Quebec City, Found Me tells the story of Mitch, whose life takes a turn after unwittingly stumbling upon the world of underground wrestling.

Findlay described the short as “an intimate portrait of an uber-relatable any-man.” The director explained that he “wanted to convey every person’s need to realize themselves--to reach their full transcendent self; however big, small, normal or bizarre their desire for self-expression may be--listening to that sense of truth that comes from within”.
