The Scandinavian trio blends AI-driven visuals with live-action filmmaking

    NEW YORK --

Epoch Films has signed Flair, a Scandinavian directing collective that fuses AI-driven visual effects with traditional filmmaking craft. This marks the first commercial representation for Flair which is comprised of Jeppe Lange, Ditte Ludvigsen and Bjarke Underbjerg.

Flair enhances the AI fluency of Epoch’s roster, offering strategic and hands-on collaboration to integrate AI meaningfully from pitch development through production––always in service of the creative vision.

Flair directs original work that seamlessly merges live action and AI-driven VFX. They also partner with fellow Epoch directors as creative collaborators, supporting projects where AI plays a role. While many companies are building standalone AI divisions, Epoch’s approach centers on integration–pairing emerging technologies with director-led storytelling. The partnership reinforces the company’s belief that great work starts with great talent. In the right hands, AI becomes an extension of craft.

As for Flair’s origin, it dates back to 2019 when Lange began exploring AI and emerging technologies to expand the language of filmmaking without replacing it. That experimentation led to a collaboration with Ludvigsen, whose background in hand-drawn illustration, animation film school, and later art direction and concept development within the VFX industry grounds the collective’s visual world-building. At the same time, Underbjerg, whose background in direction emphasizes storytelling, structure, and dramaturgy, was drawn toward a model built on shared authorship. Together, they formed Flair–a collective shaped by the belief that films grow stronger when ideas are challenged, refined, and carried forward collaboratively.

Flair’s work is defined by cohesion. From character design to environments to editing rhythm, every element stems from a clear conceptual core. Their use of AI follows the same principle: technology is applied with intention, never as spectacle. The result is work that feels unified, emotionally resonant, and deeply considered.

In a joint statement, Flair remarked, “Our entry point to Epoch was through our close friend [director] Martin de Thurah, with whom all three of us have collaborated over the years. Most recently, we worked together on the Liquid I.V. Super Bowl spot. That shared experience created a natural bridge to Epoch, and it was reinforced the first time we spoke with Melissa [Culligan, partner, executive managing producer of Epoch] and Mindy [Goldberg, founding partner of Epoch]. Beyond the personal connection, we immediately recognized a shared way of seeing and understanding filmmaking. We felt seen and understood.”

Goldberg added, “When Scandinavian aesthetic and tone meet American culture, magic happens. The perfect mixture of humanity and hilarity. We’re excited about introducing Flair to the U.S. market. They’ve met all the Epoch directors on Zoom. It was exciting to discuss how that collaboration could work. Flair’s expertise with AI tools, combined with their philosophy about how those tools enhance filmmaking and storytelling, is simpatico with Epoch. Suddenly, instead of wanting to puke when someone mentions using AI, now we’re psyched!”

Peter Jackson To Receive An Honorary Palme d’Or At Cannes Film Festival

    Friday, March 6, 2026

The Cannes Film Festival will honor filmmaker Peter Jackson with an honorary Palme d'Or at the upcoming French festival.

Festival organizers announced Jackson as a recipient Thursday for what they hailed as "a body of work that blends Hollywood blockbusters and films d'auteur with extraordinary artistic vision and technological audacity."

The "Lord of the Rings" director, in a statement, called the honor "one of the greatest privileges of my career." Jackson recalled that he first came to Cannes in 1988 to sell his first movie, "Bad Taste." In 2002, he returned to preview "The Fellowship of the Ring."

"This festival has always celebrated bold, visionary cinema, and I'm incredibly grateful to the Festival de Cannes for being recognized among the filmmakers and the artists whose work continues to inspire me," Jackson said.

Last year, Cannes gave honorary Palme d'Or prizes to Robert De Niro and Denzel Washington. This year's edition runs May 12-23.
