    “One Battle After Another” Named Year’s Best Picture By Los Angeles Film Critics

    LOS ANGELES --

    The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) on Sunday (12/7) named “One Battle After Another” as Best Picture of the Year. The film also earned Paul Thomas Anderson distinction as Best Director and Teyana Taylor was recognized for Best Supporting Performance.

    Taking the Best Lead Acting honors were Rose Byrne for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” and Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon.”

    The other Supporting Acting winner was Stellan Skarsgård for his performance in “Sentimental Value.”

    “It’s been a stunning year for movies of all kinds, and we’re thrilled to have a group of winners that reflect that breadth of cinematic artistry and perspective,” said Robert Abele, president of LAFCA. “When we gather at the historic Millennium Biltmore on Jan. 10, 2026, for our banquet, it’ll be an honor to celebrate these wonderful films and filmmakers.”

    “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain” was named Best Animation feature. “The Secret Agent” topped the Best Film Not In The English Language category. And the Best Documentary/Nonfiction Film was “My Undesirable Friends: Part I Last Air in Moscow.”

    Jafar Panahi won Best Screenplay for “It Was Just an Accident.” Best Cinematography went to Adolpho Veloso for “Train Dreams.” Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie topped the Best Film Editing category for “Marty Supreme.”

    Hannah Beachler won for Best Production Design on the strength of “Sinners.” And “Sirat” earned Kangding Ray the honor for Best Music Score.

    As previously announced, LAFCA chose filmmaker Philip Kaufman as the recipient of this year’s Career Achievement Award.

    Here’s a full rundown of the winners and runners-up:

    Runners-up: Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, “Sentimental Value,” and Andrew Scott, “Blue Moon”

    BEST ANIMATION: “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain”

    “One Battle After Another” Tops Golden Globes Tally With 9 Nominations

    Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" scored a leading nine nominations to the 83rd Golden Globe Awards on Monday, adding to the Oscar favorite's momentum and handing Warner Bros. a victory amid Netflix's acquisition deal. In nominations announced Monday from Beverly Hills, California, "One Battle After Another" landed nominations for its cast — Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti — along with nods for Anderson's screenplay and direction. It's competing in the Globes' category for comedy and musicals. Close on its heels was Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value," a Norwegian family drama about a filmmaking family. The Neon release's eight nominations included nods for four of its actors: Stellan Skarsgård, Renate Reinsve, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas. The Globe nominations, a tattered but persistent rite in Hollywood, are coming on the heels of the a potentially seismic shift in entertainment. On Friday, Netflix struck a deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $72 billion. If approved, the deal would reshape Hollywood and put one of its most storied movie studios in the hands of the streaming giant.
