The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) on Sunday (12/7) named “One Battle After Another” as Best Picture of the Year. The film also earned Paul Thomas Anderson distinction as Best Director and Teyana Taylor was recognized for Best Supporting Performance.
Taking the Best Lead Acting honors were Rose Byrne for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” and Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon.”
The other Supporting Acting winner was Stellan Skarsgård for his performance in “Sentimental Value.”
“It’s been a stunning year for movies of all kinds, and we’re thrilled to have a group of winners that reflect that breadth of cinematic artistry and perspective,” said Robert Abele, president of LAFCA. “When we gather at the historic Millennium Biltmore on Jan. 10, 2026, for our banquet, it’ll be an honor to celebrate these wonderful films and filmmakers.”
“Little Amélie or the Character of Rain” was named Best Animation feature. “The Secret Agent” topped the Best Film Not In The English Language category. And the Best Documentary/Nonfiction Film was “My Undesirable Friends: Part I Last Air in Moscow.”
Jafar Panahi won Best Screenplay for “It Was Just an Accident.” Best Cinematography went to Adolpho Veloso for “Train Dreams.” Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie topped the Best Film Editing category for “Marty Supreme.”
Hannah Beachler won for Best Production Design on the strength of “Sinners.” And “Sirat” earned Kangding Ray the honor for Best Music Score.
As previously announced, LAFCA chose filmmaker Philip Kaufman as the recipient of this year’s Career Achievement Award.
