    NEW YORK --

The Gotham Film & Media Institute has unveiled the nominations in 12 competitive award categories for the 2026 Gotham Television Awards, recognizing a range of series and performances. Among the nominated shows are Beef, Big Mistakes, I Love LA, Katrina: Come Hell and High Water, Half Man, Pluribus, Task, and The Yogurt Shop Murders. Outstanding Performance nominations include Elle Fanning, Chase Infiniti, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Pfeiffer, Erika Alexander, Odessa A’Zion, Dan Levy, and Daniel Radcliffe.

Nominees for Outstanding Original Film, Broadcast or Streaming are Color Theories by Julio Torres, People We Meet on Vacation, Reflection in a Dead Diamond, Remarkably Bright Creatures, and #Skyking.

“With today’s nominations, our third annual Gotham Television Awards celebrates an incredible year of breakthrough comedies, dramas, and original films, as well as a newly expanded Limited or Anthology Series category recognizing where some of television’s boldest work is being made,” said Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham. “As the first awards show of the new television season, we’re proud to bring together the industry’s most exciting voices, celebrate the year’s achievements, and deepen our commitment to supporting the creative community we represent here at The Gotham.”

The Breakthrough Comedy, Drama, and Nonfiction Series, and the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, honor exceptionally realized fiction and nonfiction series that expand the boundaries of creativity in serialized content. Outstanding Performance awards honor lead and supporting performances in the Breakthrough Comedy, Drama, and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series categories. Additionally, the Outstanding Original Film, Broadcast or Streaming award honors new feature films which originally aired or transmitted for the first time on television (network, basic cable, pay cable, pay television, pay-per-view, interactive cable, broadband) or digital distribution through an internet streaming platform. The Gothams also honor Outstanding Performances in an Original Film.

Nominees were selected by committees of film and television critics, journalists, festival programmers, and film curators. Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors, and others directly involved in making television will determine the final Gotham Television Awards recipients.

At the 2025 Gotham Television Awards winners included Adolescence, The Studio, The Pitt, Social Studies, and Pee-wee as Himself. The 2025 ceremony also bestowed tributes on Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, Hwang Dong-hyuk, Elisabeth Moss and the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale, Parker Posey, Brian Tyree Henry, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and David E. Kelley. The Gotham 2026 Television Awards Ceremony will be held live and in person at 7PM on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Summer Movie Preview: Writer-Director Jon Favreau Realizes His Star Wars Dream

    Tuesday, April 28, 2026
This image released by Disney shows director Jon Favreau (standing) and Pedro Pascal on the set of Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu." (Francois Duhamel/Lucasfilm Ltd./Disney via AP)

Jon Favreau has been dreaming about making a Star Wars movie for most of his life. He was 10 and half when the first film was released in theaters in 1977, which he went to see with his dad. From the opening shot of that Imperial Star Destroyer filling the screen, he was forever changed. It made him fall in love with the movies: The wonder, the world, the spectacle and the shared experience. He voiced a Mandalorian in "The Clone Wars," played an alien in "Solo" and helped create "The Mandalorian" series and his immensely popular counterpart, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). But believe it or not, he only ever got to direct one episode of the show (the first of the second season). So, yes, Favreau has paid his dues and now, at 59, he finally has a Star Wars movie of his own coming to theaters on May 22. Inviting a new generation to Star Wars "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is not simply Season 4 of the show on the big screen. Favreau should know, since he wrote both. And, perhaps more importantly, he knew there couldn't be any presumption of Mandalorian knowledge. Writing a show, he said, you can assume that the audience will have seen the prior season. A movie is different; it has to be if it's going to be a blockbuster. "Even though in our hearts we are Star Wars fans, we make it for Star Wars fans, and we know that there's a certain set of expectations around what Star Wars... Read More
