With over a decade of experience in the visual effects industry, Richards brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will be pivotal to Pitch Black’s goal of enhancing and finalizing its global platform and workflow integration.

Richards’ passion for watching films fueled his creativity and inspired his career in visual effects. His previous positions as CTO at postproduction facilities Picture Shop, Ghost VFX, and Method Studios provided him with a strong background in building and managing technology teams with a strong focus on leadership and creative problem-solving.

“The rich legacy of all the Pitch Black brands is incredible, and being asked to be part of the next chapter is humbling,” said Richards. “I look forward to leveraging my experience to foster creativity, drive innovation, and ensure the highest security standards across our global platform.”

Sébastien Bergeron, CEO of Pitch Black, is enthused over Richards joining the company’s executive team, stating, “His arrival as our CTO comes at a pivotal moment in Pitch Black’s evolution. He will leverage his expertise across all our brands and put the final touch in our unified platform project. Tipify, the emerging platform reshaping how music artists connect with fans and build sustainable careers, has appointed Sam Shah to lead artist relations and development. Shah brings together label-side A&R experience, artist management depth, and entrepreneurial vision--a combination that positions him to lead Tipify’s artist discovery and relations work at a pivotal moment for the independent music ecosystem. Shah previously held roles in A&R at ATO Records, an independent record label known for fostering artists like Alabama Shakes, Black Pumas, and My Morning Jacket. He also worked as an artist manager at Mick Management, where he worked closely with talent at pivotal stages of their careers. He later founded General Public Management in Austin, Texas, and launched a digital video platform focused on helping fans discover emerging artists. In his new role, Shah will oversee artist relations and development at Tipify, working closely with both emerging and established artists to build meaningful, direct connections between artists and their most supportive fans. The appointment comes as Tipify continues to gain traction, with over 100 emerging and independent artists currently on the platform and recent activations including the Tipify X SPIN Road to Austin showcase and Tipify B-Side Sessions, signaling growing momentum across both the artist and fan communities. Shah’s arrival underscores Tipify’s commitment to building an artist-first ecosystem where artists not only get discovered but also supported....
