    NEW YORK --

Actress Michelle Pfeiffer will receive the Legend Tribute for her culture-shaping contributions to film and television–including her starring roles in Apple TV’s acclaimed Margo’s Got Money Troubles from David E. Kelley, and The Madison, Taylor Sheridan’s record-breaking series for Paramount+ –-at the Third Annual Gotham Television Awards, taking place on Monday, June 1, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

The Gotham Television Awards Legend Tribute was created to honor television’s most beloved and influential performers. Last year’s inaugural Legend Tribute was presented to Parker Posey in recognition of her storied independent career and standout performance in The White Lotus.

“Television is where some of our most essential storytelling is happening right now, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s work in Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison is a reminder of what a great actor brings to the medium. The Gotham Legend Tribute honors artists whose contributions to film and television have shaped the culture, and Michelle stands as one of the defining actors of her generation. We are proud to celebrate her this June,” said Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute.

Three-time Academy Award nominee, Golden Globe Award winner, and Emmy nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has captivated film audiences with her compelling performances for over three decades. First rising to prominence in the cult classic Scarface (1983) alongside Al Pacino, she earned her first Oscar nomination for Dangerous Liaisons (1989), followed by a Golden Globe win and second nomination for The Fabulous Baker Boys (1990), and a third nomination for Love Field (1993). On television, her portrayal of Ruth Madoff in HBO’s The Wizard of Lies (2017) earned Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice nominations, while her role as Betty Ford in Showtime’s The First Lady (2022) drew widespread critical acclaim. She has also been honored with a BAFTA Award, Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, National Board of Review Best Actress Award, New York Film Critics Circle Award, and five additional Golden Globe nominations.

It was previously announced that Matt and Ross Duffer will receive the Visionary Tribute for Netflix’s global phenomenon Stranger Things at the Third Annual Gotham Television Awards.

Additional honorees for the Third Annual Gotham Television Awards will be revealed in the coming weeks. Nominees in the competitive categories were announced on April 28, 2026. Winners will be honored at the awards ceremony on June 1.

Tribeca Fest’s 25th Anniversary Celebration To Include Special Conversation With Co-Founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal

    Thursday, May 7, 2026
    Robert De Niro

Twenty-five years ago, in the wake of September 11, a festival was born to heal a city--conceived and built in just 120 days. That resilient spirit endures, and the Tribeca Festival today announced a slate of programming celebrating 25 years of community and storytelling, including a special conversation with co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, free outdoor screenings at Hudson Yards, and, for the first time, limited public tickets to the Tribeca Festival Awards Ceremony on June 11, where De Niro and Rosenthal will present the signature Founders Award. On June 11, De Niro, Rosenthal, and special guests will sit down with filmmaker Matt Tyrnauer for an intimate 25th anniversary conversation reflecting on the decision that helped revitalize downtown New York and reshape its cultural landscape. The discussion will explore the Festival’s founding as an act of civic renewal and radical optimism, its evolution over 25 years into one of the world’s most vital cultural gatherings, and its continuing role in shaping how stories are told and shared in New York and beyond. Featuring firsthand accounts, defining bets, near failures, and pivotal moments from the people who built it, the conversation will offer a rare look at how Tribeca has evolved alongside the city itself. This is a conversation that could only happen at 25. “The festival was an act of defiance. We had 120 days. Thirteen-hundred volunteers. No money. No blueprint. Just an idea and a neighborhood that needed people back in it,” said De Niro. “This wasn’t just about movies--it was about whether downtown was coming back. We were doing everything we could think of to get New York to feel like New York again.” “I fell in love with New York through the movies and now, New York... Read More
