Boutique production company Strike Anywhere has added directorial duo the reggies–consisting of Jake Herman and Clay Dirkse–to its talent roster. This marks the reggies’ first formal signing for commercials and branded content.
Herman and Dirkse–who both have degrees in advertising–are the internet-fluent filmmakers behind many viral hits. Bridging the gap between brands and next-gen audiences with style and humor, the reggies are known for their signature blend of VFX and offbeat humor, executing silly concepts with masterful craft and depth. The duo began working together in college, directing music videos that gained widespread attention online, including Zack Fox’s first, “Square Up.”
Other artists who’ve tapped the reggies to direct their music videos include Yung Gravy, bbno$, Dillon Francis, Rich Brian, and Kenny Beats. The reggies have directed many commercial campaigns for brands like LaMelo Ball x Puma Hoops, REEF, AriZona HARD, PostMates x Saweetie, Red Bull, Lee Jeans, Mountain Dew, as well as promos for Coachella, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy!
“Strike Anywhere felt like the right fit for us as soon as we started talking,” shared the reggies in a joint statement. “From [Strike Anywhere founding partner]Ryan [Simon]’s Rick Rubio-esque mystique to [founding partner] Mike [Jacobs]’s washboard abs, we knew they could see the path we’re trying to create in the comedic space and want to help us grow as directors.”
Simon added, “Beyond being very complementary to the way Strike works, we like the reggies for their ability to be uniquely themselves while building worlds around athletes, creators, actors, and musicians that make any audience lean in. Hanging with them on our first outing together for a REEF shoot with Partyland made it all click. They’re clearly having fun doing what they do, and make sure everyone else is in on it. We’re very excited to welcome them to the Strike Anywhere family.”
