    The Elements Music, Supreme Music and Walker Top The AMP Awards For Music & Sound Shortlist With 3 Entries Apiece

    The AMP Awards for Music & Sound, sponsored by the Association of Music Producers, has announced its shortlist for the 2026 competition and saluted the work of its Curatorial Committee as it gears up for its 13th awards presentation, set for May 20th at Sony Hall in New York City.

    Leading the way with the most shortlisted entries with three entries apiece were The Elements Music, Extreme Music, Supreme Music and Walker.

    Elements Music’s General Motors spot “See You On The Road” was shortlisted in Unique Production Technique, Outstanding Music Supervision: Commercials or Branded Content, and Outstanding Adaptation or Arrangement categories. Extreme Music’s three shortlisted entries this year, all in the category of Outstanding Use of Music From A Production Music Library, were for its work with Netflix on the trailers for “Bet” and “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise,” and their Alfa Romeo spot “Intensa/Passion Is In The Details.” Supreme Music was shortlisted three times for its “No Project Without Drama” spot for HORNBACH in the categories of Outstanding Original Score, Outstanding Mix, and Outstanding Sound Design. Walker earned two shortlisted entries in the category of Outstanding Original Song for “I Think Of You (Dying)” for Life 360 and “Hair Ballad” for Manscaped, and a third in the category of Outstanding Music Supervision: Commercials or Branded Content for La Maison Simons’ “Dress Yourself.”

    A number of companies earned two Shortlisted entries, including Anomaly, Antfood, Asche & Spencer, Barking Owl, Big Loud, Duotone Audio Group, Goodboy Records, Human, Mophonics, Omnicom Production, Butter Music + Sound, Tempest, The Crystal Creative, Wave Studios, and Yessian.

    Meet The Curatorial Committee
    The AMP Awards Curatorial Committee met virtually to review the results of the first round of judging, conducted by members of the Association of Music Producers, and to verify each category’s winner. Led by Show chair Daniel Kuypers, head of music, Omnicom Production, the curatorial committee is the final arbiter of the AMP Awards winners. The committee also chooses the competition’s coveted Ryan Barkan Best in Show winner, selected from the category winners.

    Peter Jackson Receives Honorary Palme D’Or As Cannes Boasts Star Power Despite Hollywood’s Retreat

    The 79th Cannes Film Festival opened on Tuesday with politics, artificial intelligence and the shifting priorities of Hollywood taking center stage at the global film gathering on the French Riviera. The festival launched with a tribute to director Peter Jackson, handing the "Lord of the Rings" filmmaker an honorary Palme d'Or. He was introduced by actor Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in Jackson's fantasy franchise, one of many notable faces on the Cannes red carpet, including Bong Joon Ho, Joan Collins, Heidi Klum and James Franco. "I've never figured out why I'm getting a Palme d'Or. I'm not a Palme d'Or sorta guy," said the shaggy haired New Zealand filmmaker. Jackson was then serenaded with a rendition of the song "Get Back," a nod to his lauded 2021 documentary about The Beatles. The director sat stage right mouthing the lyrics. Jane Fonda and the Chinese-Singaporean star Gong Li officially opened the festival, with Fonda declaring: "Cinema has always been an act of resistance." It was a fitting observation for a film festival that has already seen politics take center stage. At the introduction of the jury that will decide the Palme d'Or, Cannes' top honor, jury members spoke bluntly about holding a film festival during a time of geopolitical conflict. The Palme d'Or jury weighs politics in film Paul Laverty, the Scottish screenwriter known for his films with director Ken Loach, pointed toward this year's Cannes poster, of "Thelma and Louise," while discussing attending Cannes during what he called "genocide in Gaza."
