    MIAMI -- (SPW) --

The National Park Service Submerged Resources Center, Biscayne National Park, and Dry Tortugas National Park announce the release of Weightless, a film by Sound Off Productions of Miami, Florida. The film follows a group of women veteran volunteers as they complete underwater environmental and cultural restoration projects in South Florida National Parks during the summer of 2022.

The all-women veteran volunteer team worked with all-women National Park Service staff at Biscayne National Park to remove almost two tons of marine debris from the coral reefs of Biscayne National Park.

In August, women veteran volunteers traveled to Dry Tortugas National Park to participate in an underwater archaeology project that documented impacts on shipwreck sites in the park linked to climate change. Veteran participants also helped NPS underwater archaeologists document 24 previously located historic anchors.

These projects were made possible in part by a grant from the National Park Foundation through generous funding provided by Publix Super Markets.

“National parks are places of healing,” said Chad Jones, SVP of Corporate Partnerships for the National Park Foundation. “The community and camaraderie forged by this all-women veteran dive crew is a lesson in resiliency, and the regenerative power of parks and people. The National Park Foundation is grateful for America’s veterans and for the support of Publix Super Markets in this important work.”

Adds Sound Off Films Executive Producer and Founder Adrienne Hall, “As an NPS Dive team member and a documentary storyteller and someone who understands firsthand the mental health benefits of diving, it's an honor to have been able to collaborate with our team (BV, PF, LDC) to bring this story come to life. These women are all an inspiration; from their commitment to service and commitment to themselves, it has been an honor to learn from them.”

Weightless was released on November 11, 2022, in honor of Veterans’ Day, and in recognition of the sacrifices that women veterans make in service to our country. “It’s been an honor to help facilitate opportunities for women veterans to volunteer in National Parks. My favorite part of working with this group has been to watch the women veterans become empowered through the knowledge that their actions are making an impact,” said Anne Wright, Archeologist at the NPS Submerged Resources Center and organizer for the women veterans’ projects.

NYF Advertising Awards Extends Deadline Until May 8th!

New York Festivals Advertising Awards has extended its to May 8, 2026, as momentum builds ahead of Executive Jury judging. Leading up to judging, members of the 2026 Creative Marketing Strategy / Effectiveness Executive Jury, 11 respected strategy leaders from global agencies, are sharing perspectives on what defines impactful, results-driven work. Led by Ellie Bamford, Chief Strategy Officer, North America at VML, the jury will review shortlisted Creative Effectiveness entries selected by NYF’s Shortlist Jury, identifying work that demonstrates the power of insight-driven strategy and creative execution to deliver measurable business results. Several prominent jurors recently shared their viewpoints in conversations with Branding in Asia, offering an insider look at the thinking shaping this year’s evaluation process. Representing a global cross-section of strategic leadership, their perspectives highlight the standards that distinguish truly effective work. “As a juror, I will be looking for work that is unmistakably clear in its intent and genuinely original in its execution, ideas that feel inevitable once you see them, but surprising before you do,” said Takaya Hoshi, Chief Strategy Officer at Dentsu Japan. “I’m drawn to communication people can genuinely empathize with—work that doesn’t just communicate but connects so it resonates.” “I’m excited to judge the Creative Effectiveness and Strategy category,” said Jasmine Dadlani, Chief Strategy Officer at McKinney. “A...
