Canceled But Not Erased: Telluride Shares Its Film Lineup

Though the Telluride Film Festival’s 47th edition, scheduled for Labor Day weekend, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual film retreat has still unveiled what its lineup would have been if the event had come to pass.

The fest held in the Colorado mountains has perennially been one of the fall movie season’s top launching pads, integral to helping put deserving movies on the awards season map. Organizers believe that releasing the lineup may yet prove of some value in terms of garnering attention for worthwhile films.

The honorees chosen for Telluride's 2020 Silver Medallion Awards, which recognize artists’ substantive contributions to cinema, are Oscar-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet (Ammonite), and lauded director, screenwriter and producer Chloé Zhao (Nomadland).
