David Gonzales named director of strategy at MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER
David Gonzales
SAN FRANCISCO --

Creative agency MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER has hired David Gonzales as director of strategy. With a background in account strategy for agencies such as Publicis, Venables Bell & Partners, Deutsch LA, TBWA\Media Arts Lab, and Droga5, Gonzales has worked with a host of brands including Apple, Audi, T-Mobile, Google, Motorola, Toyota, and American Express.

Most recently a freelancer working in-house with Facebook’s internal agency “The Factory,” Gonzales also served as group strategy director at Droga5.  There he oversaw strategy for Motorola and helped pitch and win the launch assignment for Toyota’s first ever hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, Mirai, culminating in the award-winning “Fueled by Everything” campaign.

When it comes to brands, Gonzales believes they should focus more on defining and working from their purpose than from vapid mission statements. “Purpose,” he said, “is the good fight, the joyful work. When we can help brands solve that, everything else tends to fall into place.”

Carol Dunn joins PS260 as EP of new West Coast office
Carol Dunn
VENICE, Calif. --

Postproduction/editorial company PS260, based in New York, has extended its reach with the launch of a West Coast office, bringing industry vet Carol Dunn on board as its executive producer. PS260’s new Venice-based digs are quartered in what’s known as the Californication house where much of that HBO series starring David Duchovny was shot.

Responsible for growing PS260’s West Coast business, Dunn will report to Zarina Mak, managing partner of the company. Dunn joins PS260 from Squeak E Clean Productions where she served as EP and head of sales, overseeing and directing the national sales force, marketing and new business. She previously held leadership roles at music production company Amber Music, Capitol Records and Interscope Records.

In its current form, the Californication house’s design mirrors the aesthetic of the PS260’s New York space, while remaining true to its West Coast location. The building has been honored for its environmentally responsible design with recognitions including the Sustainable Living Award by the Eco Home network.

“We’d always been toying with the idea of setting up our LA operation in a house as opposed to a traditional office space. For us, editing is such an intimate, personal and intense part of the post process that requires so much time and focus. We thought working ‘at home’ with our clients could create such a unique dynamic and would just be a really comfortable and rewarding way to work,” said JJ Lask, PS260’s partner and editor.
