Dell Technologies and VMLY&R partnered with Ballet Austin and eSight to give members of the visually impaired community an even more magical holiday. With visual-assistive technology developed by eSight, this community got to witness earlier this month a live performance of The Nutcracker performed by Ballet Austin.
With members across the community attending, “The Unseen Ballet” was a special event that brought families together this holiday season. One guest was an eight-year-old girl named Lily, who loves to dance. Lily was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, which has led to blindness in her right eye and limited vision in her left eye. Despite her love for dance, her vision had prevented her from seeing a ballet performance. She came to the event in her very own ballet outfit, sat in the front, put on her glasses, and was able to see the ballet with her family for the first time.
The experience was a way to invest in Dell’s hometown and community of Austin, and live out the company’s belief that technology has the power to break down barriers and create opportunity for everyone.
This short film--directed by Adam Barton of Resonant Pictures for VMLY&R--tells Lily’s story.
