This Apple holiday spot, “Saving Simon,” introduces us to a girl who’s out to preserve the Xmas spirit year ‘round by keeping what’s left of a snowman intact in the family freezer.

However, when a full year has passed and she brings the snowman back out in the wintry cold, a lad in a bicycle accidentally crashes into him. Undaunted, the girl and her family start to build a new snowman, underscoring the Apple holiday message dedicated to “the ones we’ve waited all year to be with.” It’s a message that resonates all the more in light of the pandemic.

Speaking of family the father-and-son duo of Ivan and Jason Reitman directed “Saving Simon,” marking the first time they have helmed a project together. The Reitmans directed the shot-on-iPhone spot via production house Bob Industries for agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab.
